Ok..so I have not been around since possibly the end of 2003..so I would like a brief history of what's happened on the forum since that time..the new characters..the stories..the shocks..the scandal..anything you can think of that was funny or sad or bizarre and Beeks would like to know about it..the old hands can tell me about long gone memories..and the noobs about more recent events..I'm genuinely interested..despite my notoriety in the past..I hold this forum in high regard and have many fond memories

Now I'd like you to share yours

You really should have just put that into a Telegraph. While I find sexual anecdotes amusing that was just way too personal Buffy.

Hmmm, let's see:

The abortion discussion has been finally settled with a clear win for one side.
The liberals and conservatives are now best friends forever
Lunatic Goofballs stopped playing in mud
The Dutch don't have their silly topic anymore >:(
People do not miss the :fluffle: smiley anymore
etc.

In all seriousness, it's actually still pretty much the same thing around here. Maybe a bit less social interaction lately and new faces instead of old ones, but that's it.

A BNP troll came and went. It was entertaining while it lasted.

In the Beginning, Max created the Book and had a Need.

And the Need was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the Need. And the Max moved upon the face of the Internet.

And Max said Let there be something created to get my book sold; and there was the Forum.

And Max saw the Forum, that it was good: and Max divided the General Discussion from the Role Playing.

And Max called the General Discussion General and he called the Role Playing International Incidents. And the Nationstates and the Forum was the first day.

We moved forums around. The liberals went from their position to secure atop the roost and moved down to Supermajority after the O'bama election. With the economy in the stinker all abortion and gay marriage threads have been cut for being to expensive. The new topic of the year is the economy and anarchy vs statism. People have come and gone. Some of the old people have new names. F7 broke off from general and has developed its own culture(whether this is bad or good is up for contention). Otherwise not much.

It's just as gone as the liberals and conservatives are friends ;)

And we still ignore you :p

the main anarcho-commies spend a lot of time defending voting for democrats, arguing for majority rule in the united states senate, and using market-based analysis now.

I still do! That was one of my fondest memories, and one of my earliest. I even have an old picture saved from the height of flufflemania: http://img594.imageshack.us/img594/6319/70138181.jpg

Well, we all bitched about the original servers and so then we all moved to a hosted server that we all liked for a minute until apparently we hated that too.

Things like Goatse and surprise porn stopped almost all together.

The Nazis of Summer more or less died away.

Some mods quit. Some people became mods. Other people became upset at people who became mods. Some people quit. Some people quit but didn't really quit. Some people quit and really did quit. The General Rule of Thumb on this more or less held true--if you said you were quitting you didn't. If you didn't say you were quitting and your nation died because you didn't give a shit anymore, you stayed quit.

Some trolls were 'charming' or 'articulate' and that made them Teflon, until they weren't.

Nationstates and the host that was hosting our server had a messy break up, and we went here. NS II came into being but it was unloved.

Forum 7 was made as a April Fools joke but then became permanent so now people have a place to declare themselves Sparticus.

Conservatives were in power in the US and liberals made threads about how much that sucked. Now liberals are in power and conservatives make threads about how much that sucks.

People took arguments here too seriously and left in huffs. People didn't take discussions seriously enough and just tried to get people to leave in huffs. Both sets of people thought they were awesome and everyone else was dorks.

Remember how in Pac-Man you get a new dude at 10,000 points? Every time some trigger number of people someone likes stopped posting someone would post a thread about how General is dead now.

People complained about abortion threads even though on balance it's one of the least discussed topics in the 'common topic' rotation.

RPers tried to invade a region full of Generalites and a handful of Generalites repelled it. And then were very smug.

Some other things happened, but for the most part I wasn't really paying attention.

Actually nations can be resurrected. That's why the Lazarus region exists.

...the region that I inhabit... la la la.

Well, there was this one giant orgy we had a few years back. But uh... some people got lost in the pile and sort of suffocated, so Max won't let us have one anymore.

Parth and Neo Art realized that their long-standing animosity was just masking their mutual attraction, and hatesex ensued.

Lunatic Goofballs had a breakdown and yelled at us about six months ago, asking us "what the hell is so goddamn funny!?" Then he banned a bunch of people in an overwhelming show of force.

Surprise of the year, Bottle has been trolling us all these years. Not only is Bottle a man, but he's also a misogynist. Go figure.

NERVUN is actually an elderly Icelandian man who has never been to Japan.

Kat is a dog person.

Bluth Corporation renounced Ayn Rand and opened a charity for orphans.

Also, Wilgrove is actually Hugh Hefner.

So you've missed quite a bit, actually.

That's going a bit too far, don't you think?

(FACT: I seriously considered posting a joke "flame" complaint about Farnhamia's post in Moderation, but thought better of it)
