What interests me in NationStates is the ability to imagine a democratic and alternative anti-big-brother country which could satisfy the needs of the modern generation without being too radical.

My name is Jen, I'm 24 (although I will be 25 too soon for my liking), and I'm from Belfast, Northern Ireland, where I lived until I was 21. I live in Kingston Upon Hull, England, where I'm at university studying for an LLM in International Human Rights Law. I have undergraduate degrees in both Modern History and Law. I intend on doing another LLM, in European Public Law, if I can save enough over the summer, before going on to qualify as a solicitor.

I like music, football, drinking (beer and gin being the two usual culprits), smoking, sex, and most things generally entertaining. I very much enjoy sleeping. I also have an incredibly useless boyfriend.

I used to play hockey for a club in Northern Ireland (and was good), but then I got lazy and stopped.

I find myself interested in almost everything. I can speak French to a reasonable degree (although don't ask me to write anything), and most summers spend a few weeks in France with some friends. I'm a member of the UK Labour Party, and have been for a number of years. I wish I was better at maths (a subject I am useless at) so I could have done something more science-orientated. I tend to read on a fairly wide range of topics - law, music, history (ancient and modern), science, philosophy, politics...anything really. I love English literature, and used to have incredibly long conversations with one of my friends who studied it at uni about everything on her course. She could never understand how I knew just as much as her about it. I'm much more fun to be around than NSG would imagine, I think.

I like hiking. I once spent a month hiking around Argentina. Got pretty high up in the Andes, was fun. I also like volunteering. I spent a summer in a Romanian orphanage when I was 18, and spent the years of my Modern History degree volunteering on-and-off on a National Trust property (not one of the houses, a big farm) in Belfast

My favourite latin phrase is "tu stercorem pro cerebro habes".

Er...that's it? I think. I couldn't come close to defining myself, I prefer to leave that for other people.

Hi, my name is Lydia. I'm 30, recently got married to an NSGer, Galloism, and moved to the state of Arkansas. I was born and raised in Oviedo, Asturias, Spain and lived for the better part of 2009 as Buffett & Colbert's neighbor in PR. I'm an art history major. I can also speak Spanish, French, English and I am mildly fluent in Japanese. I can understand and speak Catalonian, Galician and Asturian and if prodded, I can understand Italian, Portuguese and some Romanian. Maybe I should've gotten my degrees on languages. :p

I enjoy reading, writing (when the muses hit me) and listening to music. I worked as a protocol agent for the PM's house for 3 years and also did curating of furniture. History, especially Medieval and Renaissance, interest me greatly, and sometimes I draw. I do like watching anime, but since I'm on a budget, I can't buy any. I like to cook (who knew) and I want to think that I'm fun and approachable.

Nothing else to say.

I am Alevuss. I live in the USA, and I've been on NS for almost a year now. I've been learning to play the piano since August, with hopes of joining my friend's band once I have a few years of experience under my belt. I joined NS because I was looking for an accurate, but fairly simple, nation simulator, and NS seemed to fit the discription. I tend to mostly hang around in F7 and Factbooks and Information, though you may find me occasionally in General, Arts and Fiction, and maybe even International Incidents. I am a big fan of anime, manga, and japanese culture. I also hope to see other countries one day. I hope that newcomers find me easy to get-along with.
