Absolute freedom would be a terrible, terrible thing.

Mkuki wrote:Something I posted on another forum with a few tweaks here and there. It's fairly comprehensive, sans the last two years. My name is Antoine and I will soon be an 18-year old high school senior. No, I did not fail a grade, I had to start school late because my birthday is on September 9, eight days after labor day. Anyways I was born in Warner Robins, Georgia, but moved to San Antonio, Texas in 2000 because my dad got transferred from Warner Robins AFB to Randolph AFB. Ever since kindergarten, I've gone to the same school district which is unusual for a military kid. A couple of years ago my dad moved us to Columbus, Georgia for a job at a computer company. I've never lived anywhere except for Georgia and Texas.
My first love before history was Geography. Though I don't remember much, my Mom has told me that when I was a kid, I was always looking at/reading maps. I believe during the 4th or 5th grade, I developed a particular interest in politics that I've held since. During middle school I won our school Geography Bee twice (7th and 8th Grade). Although I might have won in 6th grade, but I lost in a controversial ruling. Also during middle school I participated in UIL. During UIL, I participated in many different events and winning First Place in at least a few of them. In my last year in Middle School, I competed in Maps, Graphs and Charts, Social Studies, Spelling, Dictionary Skills, and Modern Oratory.
During Elementary, I believe 2nd or 3rd grade, I developed this obsession with Star Wars that holds to this day. I've read so many Star Wars books, that my mom has had to force me to get different books whenever we go to the Borders.
I believe that my interest in history truly kicked off in 3rd or 4th grade, which was when I developed a fascination with World War II and was furthered when I did a fabulous PowerPoint on the Battle of Britain in 5th Grade for my Zenith Program (GT) classes. I've recently expanded my knowledge of history beyond World War II and the ACW in the last two years, but I've still got a long way to go before i reach the knowledge that some people have. Also during Elementary school, I used to bring big, fat books on World War II with atlases showing the movements of armies and navies. Recently I've developed more of an interest in politics, political ideology, and religious philosophy.
One of my biggest problems is procrastination, my favorite sport is basketball, I don't play musical instruments and I love to read Alternate History books. Also I hate the amount of disrespect that some of my classmates show for other cultures. I'm sure it isn't the majority, but...
As far as my personal politics, I am a liberal who most identifies with social democracy and has very few conservative beliefs, the death penalty being my biggest exception. My religious beliefs can be easily summed up in five words: antitheist, anti religious, secular humanist. I am also straight, identify as an African-American, and am a partial follower of Epicureanism.
I favor the Sith, Obi-Wan Kenobi is my favorite character in Star Wars, and Star Wars: Battlefront is the greatest shooter in the history of video games. I enjoy playing strategy games, especially those from Paradox Interactive. I love to debate politics and I love to debate religion.
I am a Brony, I despise social conservatism and I have recently begun to watch more anime. One Piece is my favorite anime, I love Criminal Minds, and I am a firm believer in Republicanism. Harry Reid irritates me, Barack Obama frequently disappoints me, and I have a distrust of corporations. I believe politics should be free of the money of special interest groups, I watch The Young Turks, and Rachel Maddow is one of my favorite political pundits. I like to listen to the ForceCast, I am sympathetic to laïcité and socialism, and France is my favorite country after the United States.
All in all I haven't had a very exciting life, but I like it just the way it is.
*PS: When my brother was born, my mom asked me what I'd like to name him and I said Logan. My mom liked it and went with it.![]()
