To me, I think you should get a MacBook, HP, Acer, or Asus. Dell, in my opinion, is crappy. That's why I never buy Dell anymore or even use Dell computers, my Dell was always overheating and it was really slow and sluggish.

Older dells suck. Anyway, Don't buy a Mac book.

iPads and iPods are considerably cheaper while still allowing you to have an Apple product. It's why Kindle failed (not to mention it was only a reader).

How the hell did the Kindle fail? And the iPad is $500, iPod touch somewhere around $300. iMacs are $1200, now you're telling me that spending $800 irrationally is fine, but WOAH! Once they hit that fourth digit, they wisen up, despite buying god knows how many versions of the iPod, accessories, and other assorted bullshit?

Yes, that's exactly what I'm telling you. There is a significant difference between spending $300 dollars and $1200. Why do you think corporations sell products for $199, rather then just $200? Why do some people think a tv for $999 is a great deal, but one for $1100 is bad? WOAH, fourth digit, right? I mean seriously?

It's funny cuz it's true.

Is there a big difference between $1100 (iPad, iPod, iPhone) and $1199 (iMac)?

They're more portable.

I hate my Toshiba laptop because its battery goes out after 30 minutes.
So yeah, don't get a Toshiba. They are also loaded with software you don't want like AOL and Norton.

When and where did you buy it? My Toshiba didn't come with either of those, the battery still lasts well over 3 hours a year in... and at $500, it cost less than half the price of my HP, and is arguably a better quality laptop. My HP had numerous problems within the first year (dead battery, dead power cord, a problem with the screen where it would flash completely white every few seconds). My Toshiba has had no problems whatsoever up to this point.

But it's never bought like that, especially all at once....an iPhone serves the purpose of an iPod. Usually you buy an iPad or a MacBook. So yes, people wise up with that 4th digit. Though I imagine, as I said, if they thought they could, they would.

I think that the opinion that people magically get smarter after the fourth digit is bullshit. As the car industry clearly shows us.

I'm just glad I didn't actually pay the $1100 for my HP out of pocket. My scholarship included a free laptop (as long as it cost $1200 or less) from the computer store and they didn't have much of a selection available. I did manage to get all of the problems with the HP fixed while it was still under the warranty and my brother is currently using it, but I'm much happier with my Toshiba. Learned a lot of tips from my uncle about ways to make it run smoother, too. The free version of Advanced System Care seems to really help. :)

Not really, just because most people have a preference for Mercedez, doesn't mean they own them...Anyway, you know what, pal, you win. Honestly. I'm starting not to care and I'm not even drunk.

That being said, OP, spend a little extra and buy a MacBook.
