I dunno. I feel like if we tried to put the things said in the Bible in more modern phrasing, we'd actually get the parts where we're told not to act so entitled, because we sure as hell haven't done anything to deserve it.

Only the most fanatical atheist could be in Heaven. You have to be pretty extreme to continue in your wicked atheist ways when confronted with proof of the Lord's existence and you are like in his house and stuff.

As for the second part, the atonement of Jesus Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane removed the REQUIREMENT for us to pay for our sins and opened the door to MERCY. The suffering also gave Jesus an very important trait; perfect empathy. As He will stand with us at the Judgement day as our ADVOCATE, He will be able to convince Father to give us mercy, since JUSTICE was already paid. True, we will all give an account; we will see our lives and our unrepentant sins will be as scarlet, but mercy will play a HUGE part in Judgement day.

interesting non-biblically based concept but isnt that a tad weird since jesus IS god and god IS jesus?

No, because the bible does not support the notion of the trinity.

Unless, of course, God is really schizophrenic, and so good at it he fooled everyone at the time.

Well for the purpose of the thread, I think we're assuming it does. But that atheists don't believe so.

Of course I do. Biblically, the trinity is unsupportable, along with a whole host of other things that many churches teach.

That has little bearing on personal beliefs or actions, but I am reasonably well studied on the subject, so I might as well inform you.

Sins are like computer viruses. You can ask for the antivirus software to delete them, and you will be fine. But if you don't, you won't be fine. It doesn't matter how well you take care of your computer. It won't make the virus go away without antivirus software.

Me? Heh, not a chance. Have you been reading the things I've been posting since I joined? My oblivion is quite certain, and no advocacy will help.

As a general concept, however, biblically, Christ is supposed to be the judge, along with the 144,000 judges bought from the earth. His human experience, and his corulers, likely could give them empathy for mankind in their judging.

If true, the whole plan is rather well thought out. However, I don't think "advocate" is the word I'd choose, no.

Entering Heaven itself is a conscious decision, you have to actually want to go there, and you may be able to make that choice after you die before you end up in either of the places. That said, if you want to go to Heaven you might have to follow Christian doctrines, which may or may not be a good thing for that person, never mind there are so many denominations of Christian we might have to find out which one is 'right' about Heaven and 'proper Christian doctrine' to get it, but that's how I understand it.

But see that wouldnt make sense, no Athiest like myself is going to WANT to go to heaven when we dontbeleive it exists. Thats like making up a fictional country and saying I want to be there when you know it doesnt exist.

No. Jesus is Jesus and God is God. They are 2 separate beings.

When Jesus was baptized, a voice was heard from heaven "This is my Son, in whom I am well pleased" Was Jesus a ventriloquist?

When Jesus prayed in the Garden "Father please take this cup from me, but not my will but thine be done" Who is he talking to?

Sorry, but the Holy Trinity does not exist. The Godhead which consists of God, the father and His son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost, however, does.

There is no biblical references to the Trinity, however there are MANY references to the Godhead, 2 of which I have previously posted.
