Random question for smokers

Postby The Floridian Coast » Thu Nov 11, 2010 11:44 pm

Have you ever smoked a cigarette and tried to keep the ash together as it burned? Like getting all the way down to the filter without flicking away ash, just to see if you can hold it one piece?

I got about 3/5 of the way on a 100. I really thought I was going to make it. :(

I've done it...the trick is to lie down on your back and keep the cigarette vertical.

The bad news is that, if you fail, it ends up all over your face. That's what SHE said. ^_^

No. Flicking the ash away is, like, 50% of the fun of smoking.

Nope, but I've managed to knock off the hot, glowy bit by attempting to flick off the ash on multiple occasions.

Oh, now that's just annoying

No.

I did light one in the middle once, just to see what would happen. Then I realised that it was a dreadful waste of a cigarette. But since I only ever smoke when I'm drunk, it seemed like a fantastic experiment at the time.

Plenty of times I've flicked the ash away and broken the filter off, then had to smoke it roach. Ew.

I do it with cigars every once in a while. But mostly I kind of like flicking the ash off.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

The furthest I have ever managed to do that with, was like 1/3 of it :( then I flicked it all over my buddy who said "smoking is bad for you."

Ah, that's a better thing to call it than the "hot, glowy bit".

It tends to remain quite short on my cigarettes, as I smoke roll-ups.

Stick a pin down the middle of the cigarette, then you can smoke it all the way down without any of the ash falling off...

I never smoked a cigarette but theoretically I feel that it would be impossible because the ash is very brittle (I know this because I tinkered with the fireplace a lot).

It's been forever since I tried that. I must have been a kid the last time. But now, I roll my own. No way that I can keep the ash on those things for very long.

Yes. It's quite easy.

And my philosophy teacher - notorious for drinking a bottle of grappa a week - used to smoke a cigarette in just TWO puffs, without any ash falling down. Steadiest hand in the Frontier.

But matches will burn and add to the nastiness in your lungs. Use a steel needle (not aluminium-coated) and you don't increase the health risk...

(sorry for necro)

If you knew it was wrong, why did you do it?
