It's a fucking car. Some people what some driving dynamics in their car. Some people like kayaks. Its not for everyone, it doesn't have to be. Someone driving a Porsche isn't an indictment on someone who drives a car that fits their different needs or desires. I spent $900 on my old Porsche and it wasn't about fooling anyone, it looked like a car that I spent $900 on.
Do some douchebags buy Porsches to show off? Yes (I'm looking at you Joey Carrera). So fucking what? That's suddenly an condemnation of everyone who decides to drive one? That's pathetic.
Get over it. It's a car. You don't like it? That's why there are so many other kinds for you to chose from.

Bolded for vested interest in insisting there's no correlation.

Are all rich "bastards"? Are all Porsche drivers "bastards"?

It was a 1973 914 1.7 that I bought in 1990. It had too many things wrong with it to list to get it for that price, but since it had so much VW in it (type IV engine with Porsche injection) it wasn't too much hassle to just Mickey Mouse the car together for a few years before I had to give up and buy and even older Volkswagen ('67 split window camper Bus).
As a weekend cruiser/constant project the 914 is a lot of fun. I was trying to enroll the poor bastard as daily driver.

I said "Some", not "All".

Long rant about how the purchasing of expensive (and thus, symbolic of conspicuous consumption - another compensation mechanism), phallic accessories doesn't mean anything.
...in which, you mention that you just so happen to have purchased one of those accessories.
Does that automatically mean you are in denail? No, of course not.
On an unrelated not, perhaps Bill O'Reilly claims that 'the O'Reilly Factor' is the only program 'without spin' because it's an objective judgement.

Dude, his "conspicuous consumption" was a 17 year old $900 car.

I always thought those bumper stickers were tongue in cheek.
