right now I own a 1953 Porsche 356 Roadster. In the morning when the last of my Pain medications wears off it will be a pinto.

Why? The only way there is something wrong with that is if they use ill gotten gains to pay for it. If the money is legit, what do you care how much they spend on a car? What are acceptable amounts then to spend on a new or used car and why?

It would really depend on how much they actually paid for it...and its not that they are spending it on a car, its that they have that much money to spend...

Swedish cars? As a Finn, I have to hate on everything Swedish. Even if it's good.

Really? I thought Scandinavians were real friendly with eachother...

We used to do that to Canada and Mexico....then they started building all the "American" stuff... :(

Well, the Continental is a Phaeton, the R8 is a Gallardo. The thing about Porsches is that they're not anything else, and I'm not convinced VW will be able to keep its hands off the Porsche engineers and their ideas. Or, worse, VW just uses Porsche's selling power to milk it for all the cash it can, and development in new Porsche models gets reduced to one item in the VAG R&D budget, so the new GT3's engineers will compete for cash with the new Seat Leon 1.4.

In short, I'm not a fan of VW. Some of the individual brands are good, but the company as a whole is a piece of crap and reliant on state support. I don't trust them as far as I can throw them.

OF COURSE they are only overvalued cult objects. Porsches are meant to go fast and be gaped at by every middle-aged man with a mullet and every teenage boy in auto shop it passes (and me). What, may I ask, is wrong with that??? Nice cars are eye candy. Very fast eye candy. That's ALL. But who cares? :D

We are part of the Nordic Countries. Scandinavia is Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Iceland. Nordic Countries is basically Scandinavia including Finland. Big difference
But, IRL I don't hate on the Swedes much. After all, I have relatives there and it would be hypocritical for me to hate on them.

Too much for what? Besides aren't we talking about Porsches? The most expensive Porsche ever produced was the GT at about $450,000. A typical Porsche is much less than that.

To add to the point, what is the most current outcome of a close partnership between Porsche and VW? The Cayenne, and that...thing does not deserve to wear that badge.

Meh. People buy a lot more expensive cars than they can really 'afford' all the time. The point wasn't specifically about houses anyway... but I suspect you know that, really.
