But, sadly for you, they don't.
Okay, so how are all these newly-minted Republicans in the House going to make my life better? Got any ideas?

The Senate would also turn Republican if all 50 states ran.
Actually, Obama may win in 2012. If you look at the past, FDR, Eisenhower, Bill Clinton all won their reelection when their party lost control of Congress.

Here, go read Maureen Dowd's column if you really want your head to explode.
I am just rather confused by some people in this thread especially the whole you have to believe in Voting because...of the Constitution? Does it radiate Mind Control rays?
Then being told I don't know Fascist Corporatism and think Reagan was a Fascist...how the hell someone made that leap in logic is beyond me. NSG you never fail to confound me on almost every level. Caninope wrote:Toyota: Keep moving forward, even when you don't want to!

During FDR's presidency the democrats never lost the legislature.

America is not 1920's Germany. 1920's Germany had a democratic government, but not a democratic tradition. It had only been a nation for fifty-ish years. Before WWI, it was an empire. America has no such imperial antecedents unless you count the period before the war, and that was 230+ years ago. Hitler could do things with Germany's tradition and psyche that are almost certainly not possible in America.
Last I checked you could vote in the German Empire that was part of the problem within the Empire. Hence why the SPD was one of the biggest parties in the Reichstag so I am rather confused as to what you are on about.

Are you... serious? You don't know what I'm "on about" when I point out the differences between a 50 year old country that had been an empire the previous decade and one that's been a Democracy for over two centuries?
Wow... just... wow.

I dunno, I think things would probably go a lot better in the states if you chaps weren't constantly electing people or voting for propositions and other such things that generally just seem to be a pointless faff.

It's true, Tacitus once said that the more corrupt a state, the more numerous its laws. There's certainly plenty that could be done to make it a better system, but I don't think "no one votes" is really going to be the answer.

My point is one can exploit the masses but they don't have to believe in Voting. I don't see why that is so hard to understand I just used Hitler as an example of garnering Voter Support so he could ignore them latter. It has little to do with what you are on about.

Do we really need an election every two years? Why not scale it back to four years?

It's not hard, I've already explained it twice. Hitler could do things to/with the German people because of the cultural and political differences between them and present-day Americans. What was possible then isn't possible now because of said differences. Germany was in an entirely different situation in the early part of the 20th century than America is in this one.
