But, sadly for you, they don't.

Okay, so how are all these newly-minted Republicans in the House going to make my life better? Got any ideas?

BOOM MOTHERFUCKERS! THE GOP IS BACK....

Just got back from raging out at the downtown Marriot with the NC Republican Party. $8 dollar whiskey drinks with the sheriff are def the bee's knees.

Swept the NC General Assembly for the first time in over 100 years, took back the House, dominating every governor's race and looking to score 48 seats in the Senate.

WE BACK, WHEN WE HONGRY WE EAT.

Yes, hence "weaselly" above. ;)

More to the point, you (probably) wouldn't be saying "nobody ought to vote" unless you had some pressing disagreement with the results, since it's immediately preceded by a "judging by the results."

Ergo, you're basically saying that "because America is not voting in @@direction,@@ they shouldn't be allowed to vote." Sorry, that's a cop out in any sane man's book.

America is not 1920's Germany. 1920's Germany had a democratic government, but not a democratic tradition. It had only been a nation for fifty-ish years. Before WWI, it was an empire. America has no such imperial antecedents unless you count the period before the war, and that was 230+ years ago. Hitler could do things with Germany's tradition and psyche that are almost certainly not possible in America.

Last I checked you could vote in the German Empire that was part of the problem within the Empire. Hence why the SPD was one of the biggest parties in the Reichstag so I am rather confused as to what you are on about.

Are you... serious? You don't know what I'm "on about" when I point out the differences between a 50 year old country that had been an empire the previous decade and one that's been a Democracy for over two centuries?

"Never be deceived that the rich will permit you to vote away their wealth." - Lucy Parsons
Socialism is an economic system characterised by social ownership of the means of production and co-operative management of the economy. "Social ownership" may refer to cooperative enterprises, common ownership, state ownership, citizen ownership of equity, or any combination of these. There are many varieties of socialism and there is no single definition encapsulating all of them. They differ in the type of social ownership they advocate, the degree to which they rely on markets or planning, how management is to be organised within productive institutions, and the role of the state in constructing socialism.

It's true, Tacitus once said that the more corrupt a state, the more numerous its laws. There's certainly plenty that could be done to make it a better system, but I don't think "no one votes" is really going to be the answer.

I got this one. See, it all comes down to relatives.

Germany, is a lot older than the U.S.. The Holy Roman Empire was from hundreds of years before the U.S., in fact.

As a result, while 50 years wasn't enough time for Germany to change it's psyche, a few weeks will be even more potent for Americans because of our shorter history.

It's not hard, I've already explained it twice. Hitler could do things to/with the German people because of the cultural and political differences between them and present-day Americans. What was possible then isn't possible now because of said differences. Germany was in an entirely different situation in the early part of the 20th century than America is in this one.

Which has nothing to do with the original question about caring about a person's right to vote? You don't have to care it isn't required. You just need to rouse the rabble to vote for you that doesn't mean you care one lick for that right to maintain power.
