Super Bacteria in US Food Supply

MSNBC wrote:About two years ago, dozens of workers at a large chicken hatchery in Arkansas began experiencing mysterious skin rashes, with painful lumps scattered over their hands, arms, and legs.

"They hurt real bad," says Joyce Long, 48, a 32-year veteran of the hatchery, where until recently, workers handled eggs and chicks with bare hands. "When we went and got cultured, doctors told us we had a superbug."

Its name, she learned, was MRSA, or methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. This form of staph bacteria developed a mutation that resists antibiotics (including methicillin), making it hard to treat, even lethal. According to the CDC, certain types of MRSA infections kill 18,000 Americans a year — more than die from AIDS. More

MRSA effects as much as 1-3% of all meet on American store shelves... whats the government doing about it? Nothing much really. Finally a convincing argument for becoming a vegetarian.

Nah. Evolution does not exist, therefor this superbug could not have mutated.

Its a man made bacteria, caused by the overuse of antibiotics.

Life's Short. Munch Tacos.

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”

That is it, I am raising my own organic cows in a hypoallergenic environment now.
We are the Glorious Empire of the Scandinvans. Surrender or be destroyed. Your civilization has ended, your time is over. Your people will be assimilated into our Empire. Your technological distinctiveness shall be added to our own. Your culture shall be supplanted by our own. And your lands will be made into our lands.

"For five thousand years has our Empire endured. In war and peace we have thrived. Against overwhelming odds we evolved. No matter what we face we have always survived and grown. We shall always be triumphant." -Emperor Godfrey II

Oh how I have missed media induced mass hysteria over potential epidemics.

It is amutated form of Staphylococcus aureures that has grown a resistance to Methicillin. The problem is that there are only a couple of antibiotics that will crue it at the moment such as Vancomycin - a potent intravenous antiobiotic. Now the isssue is that Vancomycin resistant Staph Aureus is appearing in isolated situations, and no new antibiotics have been discovered in years.

The solution of course is to get people to stop taking antibiotics for every little thing. You do not need to stop eating meat. If you are otherwise a healthy person, you do not need antibiotics every time you have a runny nose.

(For all of you who wish to have a panic, I have read articles which have quoted anywhere from 20% to 80% of people are carriers of S. Aureus)
