It went from pitifully bad to awfull to horrid to unmentionable and didn't stop going downhill until after they pulled the plug.

Yesterday, October 15th, 2010, a date which will live in infamy. The Jolt forums of Nationstates suddenly and deliberately dissapered, into the vastness of cyberspace.

Nationstates suffered relations with Jolt, and was no longer in conversation when it's creator disbanded them.

Wow, I may not have been around during the Jolt age, but I've gotta say, it sucks that the old Jolt NS forums are gone, considering that so much of all the role-playing on there and such that have gone on in the past are gone, testimonies to the times where NS was not plagued by pathetic n00bs like it is now.

I'm more upset that great events (for me, at least) such as the GWO's first stand against the world (GRIFFITH-II Declares Open Season on Furries,) the Red Skull War (first major war GWO was ever in,) the GWO-Stok War (where the GWO was finally established as a power,) the massive improvements from my first post to today, et cetera.

Plus, there's the Cazelian-in-a-blender trick, forever lost.

Well, TRBI's account from that time (The Ryou Black Islands) got DEATed after he ragequitted (as a result of the IFA deploying a 7,000,000 man international force to finally conquer him,) but now he's back as Ryou Black Islands. So yes, the nation still exists, but it's on a newer account.

If they landed, it would've been terrifying, cause even though most people say I did it alone, I had a -little- help from my good ally Rykaria (he sent paratroopers to MP and the fighter escorts become active participants in the air battle for MP,) and some troops from Greal who didn't do anything. Not to mention, Magna Polis is ANY army's worst-case scenario.

Plus, I THINK this was the war where I had a three-ship carrier group (one Nimitz and two destroyers) take on a Ryouese Dreadnought Invasion Fleet and wipe the floor with them, with the final casualties being 20 Ryou ships sunk, with one GWO ship immobilized and heavily damaged.

That wasn't the full extent of it. It led to an arms race between the GWO and (then) larger Ryouese Empire, which then climaxed as the Ryou tried to invade the GWO during some other war (think it was IFA-ODECON) the GWO got involved with (opportunithtic bathtards,) then the GWO responded by mobilizing an Imperial Fascist Alliance invasion force of seven million combat troops. Yes, COMBAT TROOPS. The logistics was incredible, requiring some 14 million more.

This led to TRBI committing NS suicide.

Do you remember SCAR, perchance? I recall your nation referred to that alliance as a bunch of 'commie-fascist pig dogs'

Btw, speaking of SCAR, the Korintari successor to it (KFL/Ylskri/Resurrection of Atlas) has expressed interest in joining the IFA...

In what ways? I never got to see the Jolt forums and it's pretty much taboo here.

It's a long story that's been rehashed several times, so I'll give you the short version.

Before JOLT, Max hosted the game and forums himself. They got too big and JOLT offered to host them. JOLT didn't listen to the players or mods. OMAC aquired Jolt, and made a contract with Max to develop the long awaited NS2. They didn't do so to his specs. Then they opened it to beta without major components even having been planned, much less being in place. Furthermore, the economics engine they designed required players being segregated into small "worlds" with no interaction possible between worlds. When the complaints started, OMAC ignored them completely. Finally, they slowly added the "war" feature, which was poorly designed and executed. Players howled in complaint, and were ignored completely. Then OMAC had the gaul to ask people to advertise their abortion on a review site. They weren't pleased with the results. Eventually, they shut down the game and wiped it, directing players to try one of their inhouse pay for play (IIRC) games.

And just to put the whipped cream on the icing, there were some pay features, and there were complaints about their billing, players not getting the features they had payed for, and in at least a couple of cases OMAC changing the wording of contracts after having recieved payment; and they basically breached their contract financially with Max. http://www.nationstates.net/page=news/2 ... index.html

But OMAC's shittiness doesn't stop at that.

OMAC gave Max and the hard working mods rubbish treatment, including stripping them of mod powers unannounced.
They killed off two other games they aquired - Utopia Kingdoms and Earth 2025. And IIRC there were cries of financial/billing shenanegans in both of those cases as wll.
