Hmmm....Good point, if you did acquire that amount of money, the first move should be to buy as many precious metals as possible to keep its value...

At that point, the dollar would already have no value, so it would be almost impossible to afford so much of an ounce of gold.

I think the best thing to do would be to use the money to pay off everybody's debt that holds the debt in US dollars, and then proceed to burn the rest of the money in a bonfire in the Federal Reserve building.

I was kind of assuming it was some freak accident that gave you the money, as such, I figured the effects wouldnt be noticed immediately, so I was thinking for at least a few days the value would still be good...

A valid point, yes. Even better if you can keep ANYONE from EVER knowing that you had that much money. As long as you slowly spend it, no one will feel the effects until well after you are rich and comfortable enough to survive the complete and total rape of the global economy.

If I had that much money I'd by Canada and give it to America as a present. Then I'd buy Mexico and give it to America as a present. Then I'd disappear after a black unmarked van paid a quiet midnight visit to my house...

Meh. You could burn 90+ percent of it, not ruin the world's economy, and still have enough to buy anything.

Now, assuming that that amount of money could be used and not destroy the economy, I'd buy every company in the world, and let them run as they normally do, with the exception of me being able step in and change things if I need to.

Why are you guys talking about burning the cash? Do you have any idea how many trees you would have to cut down to print the bills? Hell I bet their not enough time in a century to even brint it all in ten thousands bills.

The money would just be numbers in a bank account and the world governments could just restart over the day before you came rich after they got rid of you.

Lobby groups to repeal laws against private interests in space. Fund orbital industries and the construction of orion engines and other high yield drives. Begin asteroid mining. Put engines on asteroids. Declare myself ruler of Earth and drop rocks on anyone who objects. 50 ton rocks. From high orbit.

"Never be deceived that the rich will permit you to vote away their wealth." - Lucy Parsons
Socialism is an economic system characterised by social ownership of the means of production and co-operative management of the economy. "Social ownership" may refer to cooperative enterprises, common ownership, state ownership, citizen ownership of equity, or any combination of these. There are many varieties of socialism and there is no single definition encapsulating all of them. They differ in the type of social ownership they advocate, the degree to which they rely on markets or planning, how management is to be organised within productive institutions, and the role of the state in constructing socialism.

To be precise, $23,148,855,308,184,500 is going to cause a lot of inflation without gold backing in the currency. Until recently Zimbabweans used to be trading in sums as big as this, using notes like these:

Hyperinflation at this scale has only happened in Zimbabwe and it would be a catastrophe for a scenario like this to happen in America.
