I actually thought the 2nd movie was crap.

Liked the original, though.

Are you serious?

Bucket List was completely unfunny & predictable. You could see that Nicholson & Freeman just didn't care, they were only there for the money.

Forest Gump is scmaltzy, unrealistic, mass market dross.

Bucket list was awful. Forrest Gump wasn't too bad, I thought.

Platoon.

Are you serious? The movie barely had a script, let alone any acting talent, depth, or complexity.

I have to say, I was suprised with how much I loved that movie.

The directors and writers did their fuckin homework with it.

More seriously than my earlier reply:

Eurotrip, it is simply awesome, probably the only movie I can watch again and again and again without getting bored 8-)

You pretend to enjoy Lawrence of Arabia, 'nuff said.

Statistically (as in, the movie I've rewatched more often than any other): Ginger Snaps

Pretentiously (as in, I really liked it, and would probably cite it as a great film to impress people): M

Actionwise: Leon. There aren't many action scenes in it (it is more of a drama, for the most part), but the apartment siege at the end and the beginning action scene at the hotel are awesome beyond words. Easily cooler, more exciting and more impressive than any soulless, modern CGI crap-fest (I'm looking at you, 300).

Overall: Save the Green Planet. Somehow, this movie manages to combine Goofball comedy, science fiction weirdness (and I mean in the completely WTF-sense; you'd have to see the ending to understand), social commentary, social drama, revenge drama, crime drama, romance and action-hero parody into an entrancing torture flick. It is beautiful, hilarious and depressing as all Hell. Everyone should watch it at least once, even if you don't normally like subtitles or crucifixion sequences.

Best series: The Yakuza Papers. Really complicated (the boxed set I have came with a handy chart so you could keep track of who was who's boss/blood brother/underling/lover and what feuds they were involved in), but definitely worth the effort to keep track of it. A lot of movies (Godfather, etc) have dealt with the dance of underworld politics and it's consequences, but none did it so thoroughly or so well.

An honorable mention goes to House of Cards, which was a BBC miniseries (and therefore doesn't properly qualify). Not only was it several times better than the original book (and the book was pretty good too), but it had Ian Richardson's mesmerizing performance as Francis Urquhart, the anti-hero to end all anti-heroes.
