I only knew it for a bit, but I don't realize why the first forum would not be as premier as the second one.

I liked the old user titles: CyberSheep Farmer, Cabbage Patch Girl, AdminBots Boyfriend, Muppet Owner, ZX81 H4x0r0r, etc.

Actually scrap what I said, there was so much better about the jolt forum, but the company and their servers suck. The jolt forum had little nuances that I really appreciate now, like the green arrow, oh how I miss the green arrow. And being able to preview what a thread says, before even clicking on it.

After a user made ten thousand post then they were entitled to a custom title. Also, the quote boxes where you could jump to the original posts and the quick reply functions.

Really? I stay logged in longer here than on jolt. There I would get logged out constantly, here I'm logged out if I leave for maybe a couple of hours.

Hell, another forum I visit uses this same backbone and it has CONSTANT login!

This forum is honestly just terrible.

Yes, unfortunately.

I liked multi-quote and quick reply, even if I overused both of them to a great degree. But I can live without them, whereas the new user titles occasionally cause me to contemplate suicide as I face the amount of unimaginativeness in the universe.

Jolt had the multi-quote function.

This is just a weak forum backbone comparatively. And considering the only other place I have seen it is a Half-Life 2 mod forum, I imagine it is a free POS they found somewhere.
I can name a half dozen places with better forum backbones.

This forum in general has fewer features. No multi-quote, no thread preview, spotty search, no "green arrows" like Hydesland was talking about, and more. That being said, there is no advertising within the threads themselves (something incredibly annoying Jolt did near the end) and, maybe my connection has just improved for other reasons, but this forum seems faster than Jolt's. I like that about it.

No, on Jolt you could hover over the title of a thread and see the first paragraph of what the OP typed.

EDIT: Something else annoying about this forum: when I tried to delete this post, seeing Hydesland had answered the question, a message told me I could only delete posts which hadn't been replied to. Which this one hadn't, at least not by the time I started writing the EDIT. Anyone know what that's about?

Jolt was better looking, there was something about just a plain black and white layout that seemed to fit well with a political forum.

The extra features, mulitquote and green arrows especially, were nice as well.

You can't delete posts more than 5 minutes after you've written them, in general. That's another lack-of-feature that annoys me.

Jolt was special because the pre-Jolt forum was a disaster that was collapsing under its own weight. It was so bad that the RPers wanted to dump General because we were constantly crashing their forums just by sheer volume. It was clunky and unreliable and costing Max a pretty whatevertheAustralianequivilanttoapennyis. Jolt was a breath of fresh air by comparison, no more quadruple posts, actual features (never mind which ones (multi-quote, I will always love you, as well as not having to delete quote pyramids myself), the previous forum had pretty much none.)

By comparison, Jolt seemed like a Wonderland where fairies grant wishes and waterfalls rain beer and pretzels.
"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.
