Well some websites use Twitter to promote business, for example retailers with special deals. Some bloggers use twitter to communicate with fans. If ns had a twitter to update new topics, every subscribers feed would be full of links to ns topics drowning out other people they are following. Maybe it can have a fanpage on FB. The site doesn't really need more promotion.

I think the novels alone which inspire would work well with a twitter feed but with so much activity at NationStates such a twitter feed would theoretically fill up at such a rate where it'll be hard to keep track of. Also bear in mind that some players are interested in particular elements more than others so an all-in-one feed announcing roleplay events may be hard to go through. As for the news, I think the current page is enough for now because it doesn't get updated so often as a typical regularly updated twitter feed. Anyway, twitter was originally intended to exchange messages at a project meeting.

No, we don't need anymore promotion. If we get too many people we'd have so many capacity problems the site would be down more then up, we'd have to make a huge transfer to another server, recruit a shitload of Mods. it would be completely insane.

Yes but topics are posted at a high rate around here. Maybe it could work if there were Twitter Accounts like nsgeneral, nsii, nsf7 etc otherwise there would be update overload on your Twitter feed.

Fact is, smaller systems are simpler systems. Increased size is only nice, to a point. Eventually you get some many inconsiderate people posting that the site devolves into 4chan. Enough publicity to keep an equal number of newcomers, to match the number of outgoers, with enough forum activity to create some fun stuff, is all we need here. We don't want anything more.

It's not much different as here or any other forum or blog. Most users are average, some are excellent, some are dumb.

Last time NS went down I Googled searched for other mentions of Nationstates/NS/NSG and found a post on Twitter that the site was indeed down. A Twitter page for things like site news would be nice, if not helpful for unexpected crashes... Call it an NSNewsTicker or NSTicker.

Ah but wouldn't it be nice to know that the site had gone down and not that it had been taken down. Also, with a tweet users could be informed that the site was back up again, or possibly be experiencing some hiccups while performing an update on X day.
