How not only inhumane, but also short sighted for the U.S.
If you think about it, most of the industrialized world is dying out, and in desperate need of a booming, young workforce. America is not. On the contrary, it is growing - and much of this growth is fueled by Latinos.
Yes, many of them are less educated, don't speak English and aren't Americanized. But their children will be. And their children's children will most certainly be. And the American dream for immigrants the world over will live on, burning bright.
Because, if you think about it on an individual level, human beings only have 1 life. So why should we, all of us, not try to live that singular life to the best of our abilities. And if certain areas of Latin-America don't offer the environment needed for people to really flourish, why shouldn't they be able to come to America? Why do they have less of a [moral] right to live here and contribute, something they are willing to die for, than some ignorant ass bum who doesn't care about the country, doesn't contribute, but who happens to be a multi-generation American?
That's not right and you know it. But you know what is right? What feels right? Including people. Because they love America and the opportunity it represents, and they will love you too if you try to help them. And ultimately, helping people build a better life, which by extension benefits your country by keeping it dynamic, evolving, growing and productive, feels a hell of a lot better than excluding.
You can try to convince yourself otherwise, but ultimately you will know that's the truth if you look in your heart and mind.
Anyone who knows me as a poster may be a bit surprised by my post.
