World War Z never really seemed plausible to me, not because of the zombies, but because of the threat they posed. I've read the first three books, and they are perfect in regard to the Vampire Mythos. (And pretty much everything else).

Underestimation of the threat coupled with wrong tactics. They're not much of a threat, unless they come at you in large groups. And all it takes is one bite...
