So, I Just Returned From Africa

Postby Athiests4AnimalRights » Tue Sep 07, 2010 7:34 am

I was fighting against illegal poaching. However, this thread is not about that. I received very disturbing news upon my arrival back in the states. I had always suspected this, but now we know it's true.

A good friend of mine lent me the documentary "True Blood". Now, thus far, I've only seen the first season, and I'll spoiler the rest for those that haven't seen that.
Now, we follow the story of Bill the vampire and his blonde girlfriend. I'm sure it's no news to all of you, but it documents how True Blood was invented by the Japanese, and subsequently, vampires came out in the open.

Now, Bill is a very likable guy. He drinks the manufactured product (most of the time), rather than drink human blood. However, he does drink human blood once (with consent), and once when he's really desperate (without consent).

It got me to thinking about the plight of vampires and carnivorous creatures in general. I'm not sure the best solution. Should we cull these carnivorous creatures, retrain them, or make them above the law and moral guidelines when they need sustenance?

I have lots of sympathy for Bill the vampire, but I also cannot forget that he is a bloodthirsty carnivore.

I'm too tired to argue with all the flaws in this thread.

"Never be deceived that the rich will permit you to vote away their wealth." - Lucy Parsons
Socialism is an economic system characterised by social ownership of the means of production and co-operative management of the economy. "Social ownership" may refer to cooperative enterprises, common ownership, state ownership, citizen ownership of equity, or any combination of these. There are many varieties of socialism and there is no single definition encapsulating all of them. They differ in the type of social ownership they advocate, the degree to which they rely on markets or planning, how management is to be organised within productive institutions, and the role of the state in constructing socialism.

We should cull all carnivorous animals which we could realistically replace with human hunters. Thus we could eat all the tasty meat they currently steal from us.

I didn't have sex with any monkeys if that's the question. One was trying to seduce me a good part of the time, though.

Please look up "evolution" and "obligate carnivore." Oh, and vampires don't really exist, y'know, though I'd bite Anna Paquin, too.

He wasn't calling people monkeys, but playing on the idea that AIDS was introduced into humans though humans having sex with monkeys. The fact that you thought he was calling people monkeys make you the racist one; you apparently automatically think that any time people say monkeys, they must mean humans and that's not right. Sorry, very few of us think that way and I suggest you shouldn't either. ;)

Are talking about applying human moral standards to carnivorous animals or genociding people that wear leather?

C-minus, needs work.

A bit obvious really, try making it a bit more subtle, while at the same time carrying arguments further down the path of absurdity. This just doesn't drag out the "oh god is he serious" reaction. It's a delicate balance. For guidance you'll probably want to turn to Hammurab's older threads, his new ones are a bit shit.

Not subtle or long enough. Also it didn't really make me laugh much (and by that I mean not at all).
