I dunno how to define ideology. What I do know is that ideology should not be more important than seperate issues.

most generally, left and right are divided by their projects. to the extent that an ideology is aimed at liberty, fraternity, and egalitarianism, it is of the left. the right, on the other hand, aims at authority, obedience, and hierarchy. people say tradition vs change fits in there, but that's clearly a non-starter.
