People who denounce the free market and voluntary exchange, and are for control and coercion, believe they have more intelligence and superior wisdom to the masses. What's more, they believe they've been ordained to forcibly impose that wisdom on the rest of us. Of course, they have what they consider good reasons for doing so, but every tyrant that has ever existed has had what he believed were good reasons for restricting the liberty of others.

OP

Yes, the OP made an assumption (not a generalization), not all posters with liberal views. If you had read the rest of this topic, you'd see that a number of both liberals and conservatives (like myself) have been taking him to task for it.

I believe I have proved you aren't pointing any "thing" out, but rather EVERYTHING. I don't blame you though, it's easy to "win" a debate when you aren't being clear. THEN how could anyone call you on BS.

An opinion is a lot like a question, you can't have a "wrong" one.

Opinions can be destructive, stupid, and/or incoherent, but saying a persons' opinion is "wrong" would require you to prove it. Thats something you haven't done yet.

I actually was not saying he was wrong, but either way...nice job with the whole jumping to conclusions things. Thats kinda like Buffet and Colbert jumped to a conclusion or an assumption when he assumed that this guy listened to "islamophobic" media and that had something to do with what he done. Considering that neither of us know whether he watched them or not, neither of us are wrong in that part. However, I can point to some statistics that lead you to believe that media has pretty much nothing to do with violent behavior...that is if you want to read it.

http://www.mediaed.org/Handouts/ChildrenMedia.pdf

Bullet number one states that media violence has increased, while at the same time bullet number five states that crime rates across america have fallen proportionate to a rise in media violence.

I also included the study of video game violence and it also has increased while violent crimes decreased. His "ASSUMPTION" holds no weight.

So, instead of jumping on the bandwagon...bring me some statistics or something to show what you are trying to argue. Also, while Buffet and Colbert does not really have a case in this debate; he is a very formidable debater and he can fend for himself.

If you watch the news, you've watched the islamophobes. Practically all channels have had them on. I'm just going out on a limb and presuming he watches the news, listens to the radio, or reads the newspaper.

Media violence isn't what's being postulated as a contributing factor to the execution of the crime. So the inverse correlation between media violence and violent crime rate is irrelevant. What would be relevant would be to show that there is no correlation between widespread othering of a group and violence directed at those being othered.

Which is going to be somewhat difficult.

You see, the thing is while it is possible that it could contribute to the stabber's actions, this does not necessarily mean it actually did. Until we have information showing that the suspect performed the action due to being influenced by Beck or Limbaugh, we cannot wildly assert that he was influenced by Beck or Limbaugh.

Watch how this works:

Your opinion on Beck and Limbaugh was influenced by watching Keith Olbermann.
