They're pretty entertaining, though. I mean, when someone's actual argument appears to be, "Gay people are fictional, because they have a 'lifestyle,' and therefore gay marriage has no purpose, and it's hypocritical to support gay marriage without also being against gay marriage, and furthermore I want to marry a hamster," how can you do anything but laugh? :p

Fuck it all. Let the world burn - there's no way roaches could do a worse job of being decent than we have.

So? Does that justify the LGBT people being obnoxious, yelling profanities at shoppers in a store, saying they are fueling hatred and discrimination?

No, the first Amendment does that.

Maybe on public property, but Target is private property.

Which is open to public access. They can withdraw your right to be there, but they can't force you to shut up.

Target's solicitation policy is very easy to find on the internet, and it clearly says that Target does not allow solicitation or petitioning at their stores (this group was engaging in both). This group planned this out, and intentionally broke Target's policies. They weren't justified in being obnoxious, yelling profanities at shoppers in a store, and/or saying they are fueling hatred and discrimination.

Target's policies are irrelevant. Justification is irrelevant. What they did remains legal, and that's the only important aspect. Well, that and whether they got their point across.

Target's policies are NOT irrelevant, since the store is private property. It's not legal to create a disturbance, harass people, film/photograph people against their stated wishes, or solicit in a place where solicitation isn't allowed.

The public disturbance is refusing to leave when asked or when in violation of said company policies. Thats when it becomes such.

Exactly. The protesters were in violation of Target's solicitation policy (which is easily accessible on the internet), so can we finally agree that they created a disturbance in the store?

As per Target's policy they ask the solicitors
We ask all solicitors and petitioners to respect our policy by ceasing their activities and leaving our property. However, frequently they refuse to comply.

http://sites.target.com/site/en/corpora ... D03-001336

As the protesters left when told to, they were within the realms of target policy.

The thing is, they shouldn't have started in the first place. The disturbance was preplanned (as evidenced by the bullhorn, video camera, and "coupons" they were handing out), and I've seen signs at the Target stores near me stating the solicitation policy.

Well perhaps target would not identify them as solicitors. The definition is not fully defined in target's policy.
The policy says people will be asked to leave, then police criminal filings will occur.
Target has posted this policy online for all, I expect target to abide by their own policy.

They were handing out "coupons", aka pamphlets. That's soliciting.
Gun control is like trying to solve drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to own cars.

That's very arrogant to say it's going to spread and that I have to live with it. I will just not send my children to public school then if they are going to teach them it's okay to be homosexual.

Sounds more like you are afraid of them.

So how do gay people turn hetros gay?

I'm not sure exactly, but I know promoting it doesn't help. You can observe this in all the school children who now say they are gay or "bisexual."

Why did you put bisexual in quotes?

Good point, I don't want my children exposed to the lower class urban culture either.

Are you trying to entice me into saying a reportable offense now because of your dislike of me?

True but
A) no way does he know his entire genetic ancestry well enough to know if any of them were gay
b) it could well be a recessive trait (the act that it's survived suggests it would be) meaning that no sign in your parents or grandparents means nothing at all.

It's going on without you, and same-sex marriage is extent and spreading, and as it's unlikely to physically kill you (unless you have a really dodgy heart and all that vitriol and anxiety puts a real strain on it), it looks like you're going to have to live with the existence of government-recognized same-sex marriage.

Have a nice day, and please, shop at the United States of America again.

That's very arrogant to say it's going to spread and that I have to live with it. I will just not send my children to public school then if they are going to teach them it's okay to be homosexual.

You're right, and I'm sorry. You don't HAVE to live with it. You could move to another country. I hear there are still a bunch out there that "protect traditional marriage". Maybe Saudi Arabia is the right choice for you!

And that's probably a good call on public school. I can attest that I, as an educator of young children, have never shamed any of my students with same-sex parents and condemned their disgusting sinfulness (or, wait, am I condemning them for being a tax burden? or are they just gross? I get confused). I've never told any of them that their religion is wrong, either, or that they're not as good as other people because some of them aren't citizens. It's a socialist hotbed, public education, I promise you. Radical ideas! Spherical earth theories! Literacy!

They are wrong to oppose same-sex marriage. There is no good argument against it.

We've seen a remarkable number of bad ones in this thread tho.

Okay. As long as you realize that no one cares what you think.

I mean, hearhere, on the internets? Where people are bored and enjoy having pointless arguments with particularly unsavory brick walls? Sure, maybe someone cares what you think, at least enough to debate it. But the real world? I'm not moving to another country.
When anybody preaches disunity, tries to pit one of us against each other through class warfare, race hatred, or religious intolerance, you know that person seeks to rob us of our freedom and destroy our very lives.
