Compared to the human body, current technology is pretty lame. If you mean "TV's vision of future technology, with sentient AIs, cyborg bodies and computers that can do whatever the plot requires", well, I hesitate to point out that said technology is fictional.
Also, bonobos suck. Go Macaques.

We're going with option 2, and it takes time. I would say, given a century, nearly every disease we currently have to day will be wiped out and there will be mandatory vaccinations to them for children as we have with tetanus now.

But then wouldn't the Nazi way ultimately save more lives? I think we should take that route.

I came into this a bit late, but I would like to say one thing: We have created so many advanced and complex technological wonders, yet they, too, break down very easily without our care.

The advantage to technology that I see is that it can be fixed much more easily, and theoretically can be maintained in (or returned to) perfect working order forever.

IMO the human body IS in beta and overrated. Any system that has death as an inevitable part of it is, literally, fatally flawed. Maybe not by evolutionary standards, but it's surely a flaw from the perspective of the one who faces that death.

Despite that, today's real-life technology is in alpha ( = pre-beta). While it can likely match the physical abilities of a human body (or soon will), and can already be fixed, and refixed, and refixed potentially forever, it lacks sapience/sentience. There is also no way yet discovered to transfer a human consciousness into a nice, easily upgradable robotic body.

I certainly understand the OP's desire for an upgrade, but today's alternatives are still, unfortunately, a downgrade. I also wouldn't want to be the first one to try any consciousness-transfer technology when it comes out since human-made technology always starts out with a load of glitches. Eventually, however, some sort of transhuman technology of a type I like should be perfected, and when it is, I'll be waving my credit card in that company's direction.

In short, I hear ya, but until my Transfer Machine (human-->robot) is a reality, I'll keep my human form if only because that's the one that can support my consciousness.

Again, less common than popular culture would have you believe -- especially for someone like you who admits to being confused and tends to do a lot of thinking. Even if you haven't been able to figure things out yet, it is obvious that you have a lot of abstract philosophical stuff going on in your head, which doesn't mix well with casual sex.

I should clarify, when I say "less common than popular culture would have you believe" I am talking about the number of people who have casual sex, not the amount of it they have.

The human body in and of itself is fairly weak, un-powerful, and wield very bad defense; take human beings a and put them in the wild with the same intelligence as our primate cousins on the evolutionary family tree, and a human will most likely be dead in almost no time. The remarkable aspect of humanity is not our bodies, as many other species have far better bodies than humans, many species Ants for example can carry 30x their body weight and carry that weight over a distance equivalent of a few miles for a human, yet most humans can not bench their own boy weight, let alone carry something their body weight over a a few miles distance.

The difference that makes humans superior to other species isn't even our ability to work well in a group, because many insect species work far more efficient in a group than humans, and have far superior bodies, yet insects are not nearly as success as human beings. The reason humanity is great is not because of our size, not small, but also not gigantic, just large; many other species are large, as many species are even more perfectly sized at 7 or 8 foot on average, they also work well in a group, and have superior far bodies than humans. In fact, the superiority of humans over other superior isn't even because of technology; if you gave an Orangutan a computer, not very much would be accomplished by said Orangutan, or even by a group of Orangutans. No, the true might of human is not any of these above mentioned features, it's something different entirely: It's the human mind.

The human body might be far from perfect, but what makes humanity so great is the human mind.
