Sorry, I'm just a little obsessed with this problem right now. It's not a problem with easy solutions. And ridiculing and mocking obese people doesn't help them, it tends to make the problem worse.

I'm making my own personal effort to fight the problem - in my own life, but what would you do? Please, no "fatties are teh losers and need to die" posts. It's a real problem affecting real people and the solution(s) are not going to be immediate. You (purported) skinny people here can offer solutions - for instance, what, in your life style helps you to remain skinny (in this instance, while genetics may be helpful for you, it doesn't help the rest of us.

Remember the fat didn't come on in a day and it won't come off in a day. Also, remember, there are issues other than just eating too much and moving too little.

Stop eating junk,run it is the best excercise any weight training gets bigger muscles and gets you bigger running will burn fat.You need to burn more calories than you eat and it will help you lose weight quickly.

I dont think obesity is a problem that society needs to tackle - mostly people are obese due to there own faults so now they should deal with it.

I'm congenitally incapable of becoming fat, but isn't cutting carbs out generally a good idea?

Do what I did to loose weight.
Eat one meal a day (some times less)and go to a two hour wrestling practice everyday.
For three months. :meh:

You will loose a lot of weight....

I gain weight fast if I'm not careful. I agree that it can be genetic (for example a lot of my ancestors come from regions where famine was common) I think the lower amount of manual work that has to be done attributes to weight gain, but my biggest vice is what they put in our food.

Some of the most common ingredients that cause obesity in processed foods.
Corn Syrup
High Fructose Corn Syrup
MSG

Beverages other than water affect people a lot too. 100 years ago people weren't replacing all the water they drank with sugary sodas that just leave them feeling more thirsty. A can of ginger ale even has around 130 calories. Drink 4 cans of that and that's 1/4 the calories you should be consuming in a single day just from drinking soda.

Also, a lot of foods or processed foods come from Genetically Modified fruits and vegetables. There's even meat in the food supply that is from cloned animals.

but you have to specifically get it close to the stomach... lower down and it really doesn't work. oh, and pray it doesn't get perforated. bleeding out of your asshole, while fun to watch, means that septic items are leaking out of your intestines.

so while you spend 3 weeks in pain, you basically can only eat liquid foods because the solids don't enter your intestines...
after the three weeks, when the swelling goes down, you move up to soft foods.
then you retrain how you eat. now I eat half of what I normally eat and I am eating healthier.

Honestly? Eat less, particularly of sugar and fast food, exercise more. Weight lifting doesn't burn many calories in and of itself, but increased muscle mass will mean a greater resting metabolic rate (that is, you're body burns more calories just operating). Running will burn more calories itself, and will increase your cardiovascular endurance. Ultimately, it's best to do both weightlifting and running.

Eat less, eat smaller portions, and eat healthy. Without exceptions. It seems obvious, but you'd be surprised how many people will 'treat' themselves on a regular basis for being so good about their diet, and then wonder why the diet isn't working.

Also, driving less in favor of walking, using stairs instead of elevators where you can, and light exercise- not enough to make you too hungry, but enough for a decent workout.

How will eating genetically modified fruits and vegetables and cloned meat make you any fatter than eating normal food?

also using smaller plates when making meals is also supposed to help, basically you're forced to put less on your plate.

going for a walk everyday (like an hour) is usually a good idea if more strenuous exercise is too much.
