Honor in the World?

Just out of curisoity, how does honor relate to hitting anybody? I mean, unless we're dealing with Klingons (At which case smaking your woman arround is not only acceptable, but the start of a wonderful relationship), I'm not too sure how you're tying the idea of honor into DV.

I guess I was just raised to respect women no matter what they do to me, I would never ever hit a woman. If she slapped me I would either take it or just grab her hand to make her stop.

Ya know, my mother tried to teach me the same, that lasted all of, oh... 5 minutes against my younger sister before I painfully learned the flaw in her argument.

I'm still not too sure why you are tying what sounds like chivalry into honor though.

Why should you take it?
Why is violence against men, by women, ok whereas violence against women, by men, even in self-defense, is not?

Well, because watching a guy get kicked in the balls is funny. There is no correspondingly amusing injury possible to females.

If anyone, of either sex, hit me, I'd flee the area and file assault charges (if it was serious enough). Getting involved in a fight would just make me lose control, and nobody wants that to happen, least of all me.

I would rather call what you describe "common decency".

It's really lacking in the 18 to 30 year old group, just look at the way they plow people over in airport lines and so forth.

Otherwise, the younger kids seem ok and so do the more adult adults.

Too little education, I'd imagine. Generation X made terrible parents most of the time.

i believe it is possible to live an honorable life. i like to think i'm doing so.
i like to think most people probably would.
we DO live in a statistical universe, and don't forget, it's simply a function of how bloated human population really is, that there's bound to be some ONE of a FEW somewhere, do just about anything.
that the potential exists, doesn't mean the overwhelming most of us, ever do or would.
