Lacuna Coil is good. I saw them here in Atlanta a couple years ago.

although, as far as music goes, when I am upset I have a tendency towards metal, like a few others have said, but it just keeps me going, so I try to intentionally get some of my more melodic CD's out.

The only way I know how to calm down is either my attention span drifts away from what is keeping me agitated (rare), and I forget all about my upset, or... my mood switches (more common). Usually crashes, as the loss of adrenaline causes acute depression afterwards. but depression is calm, at least.

I very rarely actually get mad. When that happens, it's explosive. There is no coming down from it...if I'm mad, something will happen.

If I'm just not in a good mood, I might grab a beer, bum a cigarette, go for a run or a swim, make some coffee, read, jerk off, or call someone to bitch for a while.

Cigarettes, booze, metal. A bottle of Crane Lake Sauvignon Blanc, two or three Newport 100s, and some Mudvayne, Slipknot, etc. That is the three-fold path to serenity for this personage. A decently depressing story helps too.
Other things that help: Beating the Hell out of something. Throw your keys at a wall as hard as you can (leave some scars, that helps), and then go to a decent gym and smash a punching bag until it falls off the ceiling.
Worst case scenario: take a knife and cut a few scars into your arms/legs. Yeah, it's a teenage girl thing to do, but it can help. Just remember to use rubbing alcohol afterward. Also don't make it a habit (this is for top shelf, inescapable, undefeatable stress. When even being drunk and depressed doesn't help).

I used to like a nice rum and coke, or vodka and lime.

My wife talked me out of that, so now I just sit sulkily in a corner and scowl.

It is safer than getting into a fight, yes? At least this way, you're in charge of giving and receiving pain, so when you're endurance or stress is exceeded everything can be folded up and put away for another day.
Besides, the rubbing alcohol part can be very satisfying. You know that burning, "oh my god, it hurts! it burns! fuck! but it is for my own good"-feeling? I like that.

Provided you know what you're doing, a fight is no different.

Really, I've never understood this philosophy. Of course, I don't understand why Lost and 24 are so damn popular while people call NCIS trash, so...

Anywho, instead of attacking yourself, why not attack the problem? Or a tecreama soda. Those work, too.

If you attack small children, then there is no problem calling it quits when you're done. Otherwise, it is easy to give or receive more than you've bargained for. Especially if the other person has friends in the bar, and you never have to worry about surprising yourself by pulling a gun.

Don't usually get angry. I do get anxious though. I can calm myself down by either talking aloud, or by trying to breath-meditate.
