If you enjoy sci-fi it's worth your time. It's entertaining and fun but so hideously overrated that it almost makes me sick.

Ah, I see.

I do like some sci-fi (I enjoyed a few Star Trek episodes, for instance, and own a fair-sized collection of books in the genre). I didn't think much of Star Wars, though (it struck me as marginally entertaining fluff), and am not really familiar with most of the well-known series (i.e. Farscape, Babylon Five, Battlestar Galactica, Blake's Seven, Doctor Who, Red Dwarf, et cetera, et cetera), so my sci-fi geek credentials are somewhat compromised.

Your lack of taste is disturbing.

Almost by definition alone, spaghetti westerns are drivel. Star Wars is a collection of stock concepts and characters thrown together, badly edited, badly directed, and badly acted. Neither have depth beyond superficial explosions, bangs and "being cool". Firefly is exactly the same.

It's your taste that's disturbing.

You've apparently never seen Fistful of Dollars then, or The Good, the Bad, and The Ugly.

I got a copy of Rio Bravo from the library and inside, instead of my western, was a disc for a show called Farscape instead. I was a little aggravated, but watched it anyways, and it was actually pretty good. I'll probably see if the library has any of the collected seasons.

"Never be deceived that the rich will permit you to vote away their wealth." - Lucy Parsons
Socialism is an economic system characterised by social ownership of the means of production and co-operative management of the economy. "Social ownership" may refer to cooperative enterprises, common ownership, state ownership, citizen ownership of equity, or any combination of these. There are many varieties of socialism and there is no single definition encapsulating all of them. They differ in the type of social ownership they advocate, the degree to which they rely on markets or planning, how management is to be organised within productive institutions, and the role of the state in constructing socialism.

I'm running through Deep Space Nine again. A lot of people say it's the "least Trek" Trek out there, but that may contribute to why I enjoy it so much more than the others. The spiritual element to it is very refreshing, and Cardassians are just about the most interesting alien race ever.

Also I'm on season 7 now and Nicole de Boer (who plays Ezri Dax) can modify MY deflector shield anyday.
Here's to the losers, bless them all.

If DS9 is the "least Trek" Trek there is, then the less "Trek" Trek gets, the more I like it.
