Why? I like going on 4chan for porn. No viruses, easily accessible and there's a large variety. Not to mention the fact that /b/ can occasionally be amusing. Also, the rest of 4chan isn't that bad. You can actually have a decent discussion on /lit/ for example.

What can be infered about 4chanians? Well, they are a group of people who clearly enjoy porn. They are a community, and, to make matters worse, an 'open' community, in that anyone is able to join them. This turns the website, particuarly the major active sections such as /b/ into a force who believe that they are 'right' and 'equal', but are in fact just as bad as some of the worst internet dictators. (Damn you, Google, he said, writing on Google Chrome...) Many people on there clearly have an innate ability with computers, thus they can defend themselves from criticism and harmful talk. And they like porn. Well, really, who doesn't? They enjoy a 'joke' - on their terms - as shown by their campaign to ruin Time's top 100 most influential people list. They even had porn while doing that. They also have a natural moniker - 'anonymous', which, due in part to the anonymity that any moniker would give, and also to the anonymity that the very word 'anonymous' provides, allows a sense of absolute secrecy and pretense. As at the masquerade ball of the 1800s, 4chan have created a place where secrecy rules, and where people can spend whole lives not being who they are. In fact, one of the major differences between a ball and 4chan is that 4chan has more porn. Another thing - perhaps inevitable, but an important thing to mention nonetheless, is that 4chan has its own language. Moar, sauce, even the word 'teh' have become synonymous with 4chan's internet regime. While none of this goes beyond the understandable, just as CB radio users could still be just about understood, it still presents an exclusivity that encompasses and encourages 4chan's ways.
So to sum up, 4chan's participants are shrowded in an exclusivity that they probably would not find in real life, especially due to the fact that many of them are teens or even younger. Also, they watch porn.
