Implications of participation in 4chan?

I live in the USA, that doesn't mean I should leave because some people are criminals.

False equivalence. The USA is a country, with hundreds of millions of people who physically live there. 4chan, at least in terms of its more well known components, is a digital cesspool known for enabling the harassment even of those who aren't involved in it.

The USA is a million times worse. The government has killed millions of people.

If those who participate in that cesspool wanted porn, they could have looked elsewhere.

Or they could not, they're doing nothing which enables or supports the less savory elements, unlike people who continue to live in the USA.

Instead, they choose to participate in a site that has facilitated large-scale harassment, even towards those not on it.

So has Nationstates.

What does that suggest?

Some people are assholes and theres nothing you can do to completely disassociate yourself from all of them except to become a complete recluse.

Not defending the entirety of US imperialism here, but purposes like counteracting communism and the like are more respectable purposes than "for the lulz." Even then, I'm not sure if most of the people in the US realize the harm that its imperialism has done.

There is a difference between using a medium, and using part of a medium. If someone were to claim that the Grand Theft Auto games are indefensible (not a perspective I agree with, mind you, I played GTA2 a bit myself) that would be different from claiming that the entirety of video games are an indefensible medium.

Similar thing here, you are comparing use of a particular website to use of an entire medium. A medium that enables me to communicate with people all over the world in ways that regular in-person conversation never would. A medium wherein typing words into search engines can lead me to more info and entertainment on a specific subject I choose, in an easy and convenient manner. These are just some examples of things for which using the Internet is better than, well, not using it.

On the other hand, I am not convinced of any particular advantage, other than perhaps in the field of trolling, to using a site like 4chan. You claim they are in it for the porn, but there are plenty of ways to find porn, so they have alternatives... which still therefore begs the question as to why they go to 4chan in particular.

That....may not have been the wisest course of action. I mean, sure, all they can do is maybe try and hack the site or make new nations and spam the area, but it would be very inconvenient.

I wouldn't even post on /b/ actually. (Though I have to admit I lurked there for a while once. But I didn't post. EDIT: While on there I saw some prank telling you to mix bleach and ammonia to get nice crystals. I happen to know from chemistry that in real life it yields poisonous chlorine gas. If, however, someone less knowledgeable than chemistry, who for whatever unfortunate reason happened to trust a 4chan post at the time, actually did so, they'd be dead.)
