This is only my opinion, but it's an opinion-themed thread, so I'm going to go with films that were trying (often WAY too hard) to be legitimate, serious films and failed miserably or hilariously.
Dying Young, Sweet November, Author, Author, Force of Nature, Premonition, Battlefield Earth, Eyes Wide Shut, Dune, Field of Dreams...and lots more. Picking on Plan 9 From Outer Space is just mean. And obvious.
