What If?

Postby Garimidia » Sun Jul 05, 2009 11:22 pm

NS Did not exist? What would you be doing on the computer?

For me: Probably at one of my older forums, which I now check very rarely.

Would you be more active?

If Nationstates did not exist, the last several years of my life would be wildly different, being as Nationstates introduced me to certain friends of mine, without whom I'm sure I would be a different person.

I'd be looking for pron more often, playing Starcraft, and debating game politics. I doubt I would be more active, since I turn to my 360 when I find NS lacking.

I wouldn't have swung so far to the political Left, I'll say that.

I'd also be far more ignorant about life since NSG was basically all the news I ever got until I started watching The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.
This is a signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

This too. While I definitely leaned to the "Left" before NS, I learned about moderation from NS. So, I suppose I would be defending Obama quite blindly if not for NS.

Would've joined a dangerous cult. Instead I spent more time on here instead of reading their religious texts, so I didn't make the cut.

You do realize those aren't actual news shows, right? You want news, try reading newspapers, or watching the actual news channels.

This. Without NSG my life would definitely be different. A helluva lot lonelier for one thing.

Edit: without NSG what would I be doing on a computer? Probably nothing. I probably wouldn't have bothered to buy my last three.

if NS didn't exist, i wouldn't have met my girlfriend (now of almsot 4 years), who helped me get (mostly) out of clinical depression. so fuck knows what my life would be like right now

what would i be doing on the computer? well, right now i'd be working rather than pissing about, procrastinating 8)

Come to think of it, you and Roan are still the first and only married couple that met via NS to the best of my knowledge!

If not for NS, I'd probably still mostly be putzing around on IRC and stuff in the various fandoms I'm active in like I am now. I'd probably be a lot less cynical and a hell of a lot less assertive as well; working NS moderation has gone a long way to reducing how much crap I'll take from people online or offline. It's been a good object lesson in "Being nice doesn't always cut it; sometimes you just have to be a complete bitch to settle some problems." Useful life skill, that.

I believe there is one other married couple that met here, but I can't remember their names right off. I do know that Hans and Silver are no longer a couple, and I don't know if PM and Glitzy are interested in getting married.

Edit: Oh, and me and Roan just celebrated our fourth anniversary. w00t! :)

I would be writing a book.

It would be a very bad book, neither fiction nor fact. It would be a very long (and I mean, VERY long, longer than any book ever published) incoherent rant and rave. I would never get around to editing out the rubbish parts of it, or even rearranging it into alternating chapters of rant and rave.

People replying or not to the rubbish and revelation I write, is the only thing which gives my writing any structure at all.

But I do love to write. I have found my vocation, and if I can't make a living this way, I will die starving by the side of the road, my fingers still twitching.

Thanks for asking. It was timely.

For me: Probably at one of my older forums, which I now check very rarely.

I have no "previous forums." The only "forum" I tried before was (sorry for not being entirely candid) something like IRC. Admins kept a record I suppose, but if you weren't online, you missed it.

Would you be more active?

I would be more active in "real life" if that's what you mean.

That does worry me. I'm not putting on weight (yet) but I am less fit than is healthy. And my drinking is out of control; I will be dead a year hence if I don't rein it in or cut it out. I do care and I am trying to find a way ... but for now it's clackety-clack and let the devil take the weakest of my organs.

Before i joined NSG

I thought America was Balanced

I didn't Read TIME

I Wasn't As left leaning as i am now.

I didn't hate America as much as i do now.

I learned A LOT more about government and politics.

Some basically if that didn't happen i would be playing spore and addicting games. Or reading Max Barry books.
