Ahh. Yeah, not a good thing, and I wouldn't relate their destructiveness to their pride any more than I would relate it to Hitler's failure at art school (Godwin's law ftw). Maybe if they weren't proud Irishmen, they wouldn't be blowing up innocent people, and maybe if Hitler had succeeded at art, he'd be painting Auschwitz rather than helping incorporate it. But that doesn't change the fact that they're both nutjobs. A pretty basic argument, I know, but it makes all the difference. Pride is just a catalyst, and it can be used for both highly productive and highly destructive things.

Even though most have forgotten this heritage:
Irish white men were the victims of much prejudice. German-Americans(who were white) were given much prejudice at once. There are many women in our government. Some of the biggest celebrities are of a minority and/or female. They obviously have much influence among the people at least. Of course they have wealth. In truth, the reason why there aren't as many minorities in the government is their cultures. Hispanics and blacks come from cultures of many artistic practices. Whites come from an ancient culture of conquerors and chieftains who fought many wars against each other and whose biggest dreams were power. As such culture is usually what decides many of our choices in life. But as the cultures continue to merge, more minorities are entering the government.
