African-Americans (or whatever the damnable perpetually-shifting PC term of the day may be) from rural areas, or immigrants from the Caribbean, or immigrants from Africa seem to have no more difficulty than average white people based on my unscientific observations. Asians almost universally have excellent credit and significant savings - the stronger the accent, the more likely they are to be capable of qualifying. According to Thomas Sowell, the freed slaves in the South who settled in the rural areas picked up the poor white culture of the hillbilly rednecks who came from poor parts of England. These groups generally migrated toward NYC and Chicago and other major urban centers during the early 1900's and are now known as the ghetto residents. The attitudes toward sexual promiscuity, the poor work ethics, the indifferent and apathetic attitude toward education, the hostility toward those who really do seek to better themselves, etc. all may have been taken from some of the worst aspects of white culture in the deep south during the turmoil following the war between the States.
