Random fact of the day ~ The famous line wasn't: "The British are coming" it was "The regulars are coming" as they thought of themselves as too British at the time.

Lets not get too ahead of ourselves here, for fun I tried the same thing in my school (I'm Canadian), I asked them to find France on a map, most couldn't. On the spot questions cause people to fail badly it isn't an indication of intelligence.

Wasn't there something like 23-26% thought Bush was a great president, and about the same felt like Obama was a Muslim/atheist/socialist Antichrist? And what about the same portion of people believing dinosaurs and humans existed together? I reckon these are all the same people.

Polls are not truth, people. It's important to remember that.

The old people they surveyed probably just forgot what the answer was, anyways.

I read an article that said something like a third couldn't locate England on a map.

That makes me sad as someone who can locate nearly every country on a map if you mention a country. I wouldn't be surprised if this is true.

Point is, nobody ever thinks about Wales.
The kind of middle-class mentality which actuates both those responsible for strategy and government has little knowledge of the new psychology and organizing ability of the totalitarian States. The forces we are fighting are governed neither by the old strategy nor follow the old tactics.

People usually think of England when they think of Great Britain and specifically state Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland instead of saying the UK or GB

English actually. They used to bang on about the Natural rights of Englishmen.

Also, prior to about 1950 English was an interchangeable term with British. See, Vera Lynn. Being Scottish was a bit like being from Yorkshire.

Also,

6% who thought the U.S. separated from another nation

This is technically still accurate. I'm not sure why it's listed as another option.

How do you know they were telling the truth? It reminds me of a drug use survey my HS had. It was anonymous, so a bunch of us said we SMOKED WEED EVERYDAY.

Naturally, drug testing was implemented the year afterwards.

That's only faulty because states don't have rights. Don't get me started on secession. D:

Wow, in Mexico you are expected to be able to find any country on a map, and know what country we declared independence from and when by the 5th grade. This however, does not surprise me as these are probably the 26% of tourists I see that complain how un-American Mexico is.

We're supposed to know that too. Doesn't mean people forget. To be fair, knowing from which empire the US seceded isn't really important in your every day life.
