You should be aware that America is hardly dangling on the edge of communism. We expect that kind of rhetoric from ivory tower conservatives who think Canada is an exotic location and Europe is 'quaint'. From someone who has actually lived in Russia, it should be obvious that America is about as communistic as Siberia is tropical.

Petty nonsense like civil rights, Social Security, Medicare, rural electrification, the establishment of a minimum wage, collective bargaining, the Pure Food and Drug Act, and federal aid to education, including the land-grant colleges.

Both of those presidents were quite progressive, indeed the Repubs were more liberal than the Dems back in Lincoln's time.

Let's see: "Amercian socialism really isn't socialism... dosent Amercians on the left wing support the idea of the State helping all no matter what? If someone palys a negtive role in soicity the goverment won't care and will use recourses to help that person. That goes against the very idea of communsim... That is how real communsim is, it is not as great as Amercains make it seem..."

That certainly seems to suggest that you think America is somehow deeply mired in socialism, and maybe communist...

But, my favourite was this one: "When Amercia makes the same mistake Russia made I will try not to laugh... Even China was quick to learn that communism dose not work"

You certainly think America is CLOSE to falling into communism.

'wacko ends' including the entire republican congress and former presidential administration of USia, and a significant portion of the voting public?

if conservatives and liberals alike believe in equality before the law, then there ought be no difference in the level of opposition to the bush admin's policy of disappearing people into secret prisons for years on end. or, for that matter, any of the other sorts of detention without recourse they were so fond of. is it your claim that this is what we actually see in the world? in polls on the subject that break things out by liberals, moderates, and conservatives (the actual left in USia being barely worth noticing), do all of these group oppose such measures equally?

republicans were historically the party of liberalism. then they were fairly well split. then they took on the racist fucktards of the south, drove out the moderates, and became the nutjob conservatives.

accuracy is nice, but it helps to actually be accurate.

Quite right. I didn't say Democrats passed those, liberals did. TR and Lincoln, too, probably, would have been branded RINOs and cast out of the party of Rove, Cheney and Bush.

Heck, they probably wouldn't even let Eisenhower and Ford into the modern party.

My post with the list echoed GnI's reply to you about liberals caring only about petty nonsense. I made no mention of parties, you're the one who brought them in. I simply listed some advancements in American society that were passed by liberals over conservation objections.
