John Smith dies..

Postby Barringtonia » Sun Jul 05, 2009 6:41 pm

John Smith of 42, Breckenwood Avenue died last night.

Let us all mourn, may there be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
I hear babies cry, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

Who?

Shit! He owed me ten bucks! :(

That was the most common question asked in reference to him at his work,

Yea though he was boring, we must discuss his dreary life.

Does anyone remember when he did that thing, with that thing, you know, that time?

*smack*

people who knew "john smith" mourn john smith and talk about his life and how it affected them.

when a famous person dies -- one who is famous enough to be well known to this international forum-- it is not inappropriate to mourn them and talk about how their lives and work affected us.

to not mourn someone we have never heard of is not wrong. neither is mourning someone we have never met but who is well known to us.
whatever

I suppose the question is where does one draw a line, if you're interested in tiddlywinks and the Tiddlywinks Open champion of 1952 dies, it's worth creating a thread?

Sure, because it's 'news' to you,

I'm not really sniping at threads to anonymous celebrities, more wondering why it seems such an easy filler, not just in forums but actually in papers,

Everyone is personal to someone,

Isn't there some line that you're only so great as the amount of people who turn up to your funeral?
