Steve Jobs has decided that you are an idiot

Postby MisanthropicPopulism » Fri Jul 02, 2010 7:02 am

Really. What else can you make of news articles like this and this

Jobs has apparently realized two things: (a) there is a cult following behind him and (b) he is dieing. Therefore he has apparently come to the conclusion that he can do and say whatever he wants and he won't catch flak for it. This has apparently culminated in assuming Apple customers are idiots. Selling a $30 rubber sleeve that will "fix" their iPhone 'death-grip' issue (instead of including one with their $500-700 phone - I got a $70 Blu-tooth headpiece with my $150 phone). When users apparently scoffed at that, here we have Jobs telling people that there is nothing at all wrong with the phone, they have just been calculating reception strength incorrectly for years! Who the fuck is buying this? How many other companies could get away with treating their customers like moronic children in the face of serious design flaws in their product?

And that's to say nothing of Jobs' opinion on blu-ray

If Microsoft had done the same thing it'd be all about how much of an evil empire they are and out of touch they are.

When Apple tells people they're stupid people go: "Hey, you're right! We are stupid!"

It seems to me the rebel alliance has become the evil empire.

I take it from your saying you have a $150 phone that you didn't buy an iPhone, so what do you care? Steve Jobs is one man, who does happen to have a corporate pulpit to speak from, but really, what do you care? You didn't buy into his "cult," so what do you care? And more to the point, why should we?

plenty of people, MILLIONS of people are willing to buy whatever he says they need to buy at whatever ridiculous price he wants to charge for it.

and they are HAPPY to do so.

i dont understand it but there it is. it would be stupid of HIM to change his business plan now when it is working so amazingly well.

Steve Jobs is a dumbass.

And as for Blu-ray, not everyone has the capability/HDD space to regularly download 50 GB of data willy nilly, nor do enough people have their computers set up to tv's/surround sound systems where PC downloads are reasonable to replace blu-ray. Remember that the Crapbook Air didn't have an optical drive, but that's ok, you can buy anything you need from iTunes! :palm:

i do find it AMAZING that he has struck up this new idea that people want LESS.

if you have $800 lying around for something computerish he successfully convinces millions of "you" that what you really want is something far less than a laptop--the ipad. the ipad is a big iphone without the capability of making phone calls, which runs crappy little programs that you might have been thrilled to run in '92 on your 386 windows 3.1 desktop or apple IIgs at school.

he is a freaking marketing GENIUS!

Very true, Ash. And he really has two cults, the people who adore him and rush out to buy whatever new machine Apple comes out with (once a month now, it seems, for the last 25 years), plus the people who hate him and who, while they don't rush out and buy Apple's newest, do rush out and jump up and down and rant and rave. As a consequence, everybody knows his name.

Genius.

This is why I build my own machine. I never had a hardware issue at all ever since. But no thanks to the iPhone 4... I'll stick with my old iPhone classico. If it ain't broke then no need to fix it.
