Oh dear.
Clearly, I've missed something. Care to elaborate?

First, some background:
The Eurovision Song Contest is a yearly event where selected nations of Europe, including Israel (yes, there is a reason for this), send a singing act meant to defend their countries honour, which is shown on tv, on primetime, in practically every participating nation. The inhabitants of said nations can then vote (for instance through sms texting) which performance they considered best. Those votes lead to points, points lead to wins or losses.
The voting is incredibly rigged - the eastern European nations all tend to vote for eachother, the Netherlands and Belgium tend to shove a few points to eachother and so on. Ireland commented nciely on this by sending "Dustin the Turkey" in a previous edition.

This year the Netherlands have decided to send "the Toppers"

We apologise.
I'm not sure if Brain Bleach will work on that much white...
In the old days, when RP was active, MT nations had elves. I'm going to try to revive quality RP by bringing elves back to MT. Of course, these elves are going to be sociopaths that view humans as animals, but that's the sort of conflict that helps drive a story. Oh, and the child-nappings.

I'm proud to be an American and I love my country dearly. I would never be ashamed to tell anyone I'm from the US and proud of it. However,I hate the image that we have around the world that all of us are stupid, arrogant bastards who think we own the world. I live in Europe(I'm in the military, which sometimes makes the image worse) and I always try to disprove the "Stupid American" stereotype because I want the world to respect me, my countrymen, and my nation.

I'm German; we don't usually do middle names.

Note the "meant to" - and even that I'd dispute when in a snarky mood, but I'll definitely say in all and any moods that about 99,99% of all entries (that's a rough estimate) fail at this goal and end up doing the opposite.

Has it already reached international attention that the German entry already knows that it sucks so hard on a musical level that they choose to do a strip on the show to get at least some votes of the more visually oriented watchers?

All of the above mentioned are minorities. All countries have them or something similiar. So guess that means you'd hate living anywhere, not just america.

The thing is, too many people around the world automatically assume all Americans are like this minority.

What events have made you ashamed of your country? If you have never felt this, why not? Is there a case to be made that you can't help where you are born, so it's silly to feel any way other than neutral about it?

Maybe they rioted because they were sick of the Lebanese and Syrians disrespecting the country that let them in with open arms? And persisted to harass women onthe the beach's calling them "dogs" and "whores" and eventually leading to rape. You may be soft and ashamed to be an Australian and a cowardly soft**** but when I see my country and my people under attack I will defend it with my life.

So the Australians who rioted managed to work out through some special psychic ability who had caused problems on the beach and who hadn't? Or were they just, as they said, attacking anyone who looked like their ridiculously incorrect image of "Middle Eastern", including Greeks, Italians, Lebanese, Eastern Europeans and others who had no affiliation with those few who caused problems.

I have no idea how this led to rape. At all.

I don't see our country coming under attack. Noone has declared war on us. Some people who were too big for their boots decided to mouth off. And we let our racist colours fly as a result. Never mind that I have heard many white Australians treat women like this. Never mind that the Mormon church practically preaches this as their doctrine. Those few people on that beach looked different from us. So lets get them.

Go back to Stormfront.

I don't know where you get this idea about Mormons but I feel the need to tell you it is incorrect. Maybe you ran into a few bad Mormons.

I went to a Mormon church service. In the girls' church, they talked about the need to "dress modestly so as not to cause lust" and that women who wear sleeveless shirts or bottoms above the knee are "lacking in virtue and morals". They used plenty of quotes from the Book of Mormon to back that up. So yeah, they preach it as part of their doctrine as much as Radical Islam.

I'm ashamed to be a human. I'd rather be a hyper scientific bovine with highly advanced frontal lobes with the ability to wear a tuxedo along with a diamond cane, monocle, and a top hat with the highly scientific mind that enables me to wield a knife and fork properly with eloquence.

I must have missed those days when I went to church. Since I wasn't a member I would accompany my mother to the women's meetings and be really quiet.

It's also possible that just like other churches, it has become more extremist over the past few years.

having "pride" in a place you were accidently born into is the worst sort of xenophobia. being "ashamed" of it is the flip side of the same coin. where you are born has no bearing on you as a person. people need to wise up and throw off the yolk of oppression, kick the fascists out. learn by the example set by our socialist brothers and sisters and live in harmony.

what am I ashamed of? I am ashamed that the majority of the people are too blind to see The Truth.

You realize that cronulla was participated in by people from pretty much every ethnicity except lebanese, right?

I am from the United States

The ignorance of our populace and the way many of them seem to act like animals. The military and political actions we have supported.

What really all started it for me was watching videos of the Bombings in Libya, but its been a steady progression from there. Still, I don't hate my people for what they are, their are good people in the world, and the existence of these people is proof that their is hope for our own.
