If you want good music, look underground my friends.

Mainstream will generally always be a magnet for suck. Although sometimes, they do catch a good act to parasite off of.

I am now looking for the high-profile assassinations of Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, and other newbie musical acts (though not Miranda Cosgrove; she's not the best singer, but she's too hot to die.)

NSG? Thoughts?

I like 90's music best, a few post-2000 bands are okay too, like you said the Killers and Coldplay are pretty much it. Everything else afterwards can get killed.

Well, I still listen to the 'oldies but goodies,' specifically I listen to Elvis Presley the most, along with country music. All other genres of music are horrible in my opinion, especially rap.

Well, my playlist includes Simon & Garfunkel, GZA, Sarah Blasko and Amanda F. Palmer (in particular the first song of her ukulele Radiohead cover album). These days or not, I've been able to find it and I like it.

So stop complaining and start searching. And if you don't like it, don't listen. I couldn't name a single top-ten hit of the past five years.

40's and 50's eh ?
May I have a list of jazz groups from those years.

Bob Crosby, Max Kaminsky, Eddie Condon, Wild Bill Davidson, Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Dave Brubeck, Bill Evans, Gil Evans, Stan Getz, Charlie Parker, Bud Powell, Thelonius Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, Clifford Brown, Max Roach, Horace Silver, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Charles Mingus...

Yes.

And Nat "King" Cole's trio was strong as well.

In general, sucks.

The music of the 40s (swing era) actually has taste, is both relaxing and enjoyable, and is done by people with real talent, not pretenders who use high-tech sound stereo systems to augment and change their voice, or who drown out their bad singing with overblown amps and technical displays.

Not necessarily. There's plenty of good bands today that still have strong roots in grunge. Seether for example.

I don't really pay enough attention to music to determine whether it's any better or worse than in years past, if such a statement can be objectively made anyway. Generally, though, such debates are afflicted by nostalgia for one's youth, and the formative effect of the music of one's youth.

Photoshop+airbrush. Not to mention autotune. She's not very attractive if you see her live, nor can she sing. Her videos look good because of production values.
