Insufferable. A few good acts (Carolina Liar, Rammstein, The Killers, Coldplay..), but other than that, it's pure shit. Even though I wasn't alive back then, the 70's and 80's were much better in terms of music.

I am now looking for the high-profile assassinations of Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, and other newbie musical acts (though not Miranda Cosgrove; she's not the best singer, but she's too hot to die.)

true, some modern music is downright awful, but that doesn't mean there aren't a few good acts still out there. Personally, I think the alternative scene is still alive, with groups like Rise Against, Offspring, Muse, and Rage Against the Machine still making some great songs.

i agree, this is the only area nowadays that doesn't suck balls. The bands actually write quality songs rather than stupid rhymes about sex, drugs and gangs.

Is electronic like, not considered a genre of music anymore? Because most of it doesn't have any words at all, much less stupid rhymes about sex, drugs, and gangs.

I'll take issue on this statement - I personally dislike The Killers and Coldplay, so I won't mention them, but Rammstein was a good band, but it you listen to how shitty, meaningless, and over-produced their music has become you would agree with me saying that Rammstein today is bullshit.

Furthermore, you must understand that music is all perception. Remember how they used to think rock and roll was the devil's music and was stupid, pointless, etc? Well...a lot of people think the same thing about Lady Gaga. The point is that music is a reflection of people's sentiments and tastes, and thus so is popular music. I don't like it personally - you probably don't either. But we must come to terms with the fact that tastes always change. The only thing that stays constant is an understanding among people what constitutes music and what does not. We still enjoy classical music, and we still love bands like Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and countless other acts that performed miracles with their instruments of choice.

However, there is music being made today that can fit almost any taste. A lot of good music is being produced independently, and a lot of great bands are merging styles that were once thought incompatible. If you'd like a list of some great, obscure modern bands, send me a telegram, and I'd be happy to compile one for you.

I strongly disagree. I listen to some underground subculture 'crazy stuff' that is glorious examples of 'actual music'. Just because it's not to your taste, or breaks boundaries and sets new standards doesn't make it not music. Heck, the entire history of music is based on people improving, making their own styles, and generally advancing the common conception of what 'music' is considered.
