General vs. Forum 7

Postby Erastide » Sat Jul 04, 2009 1:14 pm

As Forum 7 has been brought into existence, there are a variety of threads that now belong there and not here, in General. I'd like to ask that you think about where your thread belongs before you create it.

The directions for Forum 7 are:
Reploid Productions wrote:This forum is intended for casual chatter. Conversation threads, word games, silly forum games, and social threads such as the Paradise Club of ye olde days are permitted in this section. The key point here is that this is intended to be a relaxed fun area, so please remember not to take things too seriously.

As an example, a lot of threads recently that I've moved over to Forum 7 have included a variety of x vs y threads (some with polls attached) that were just a question. Or random joke threads. So as we get used to having Forum 7, take a moment and think if you're unsure about where your thread belongs.

Would it be possible to leave a link to threads that have been moved, like there was on jolt? If people can see what threads are going to forum 7 they'll get the hang of what belongs there and what belongs here that bit faster.

Hack the server.
There is a line most people say they will never cross. It is usually something they have done long ago when they thought no one was watching.

Excellent answer, sir.

Despite what anyone says, Forum 7 is a good idea. It keeps a lot of the ridiculousness out of general.

*ducks a pie*

Ok, not all.
Venicilian: wow. Jesus hung around with everyone. boys, girls, rich, poor(mostly), sick, healthy, etc. in fact, i bet he even went up to gay people and tried to heal them so they would be straight.
The Parkus Empire: Being serious on NSG is like wearing a suit to a nude beach.
New Kereptica: Since power is changed energy over time, an increase in power would mean, in this case, an increase in energy. As energy is equivalent to mass and the density of the government is static, the volume of the government must increase.

why does anything need to be "vs" anything?
as long as they serve distinguishable from each other functions
or are at least cenetered arround doing so.
as appears to be the case here.
i think it IS a good thing to have both for the same reason there are seperate forums at all, and not just one big forum with rollplay and general discussion with no clear demarkation between them in the same place.

not that the latter doesn't have a certain attraction. or would given a small enough population.

but with as large a population as is actually involved, if topic catigories weren't atomized, every thread of intrest would have scrolled off the page and be burried pages deep, even in as brief a time as it takes to reply to it.
truth isn't what i say. isn't what you say. isn't what anybody says. truth is what is there, when no one is saying anything.

"economic freedom" is "the cake"

If you're refering to the title of this thread, I think Erastide was riffing on the "Picard vs Darth Vader," et al, type of thread . . . which is or is not a . . . meme

Who cares?

EDIT:

Why not just make posts in Forum 7 count so topics are not posted in General for those that desire to increase their post count? It's not like they're money or anything.

The thread is laying out the rules, not asking for your opinion of the forums.

Postcount doesn't matter when you got the seniority. 8)
