Haven't read most of the posts, just popping in on my wine-induced stagger bedwards, but I'd say... alcohol, a desire to be contrary, and coincidence, mainly.

Alcohol sends me usually to bed or some excuse for it, in one sense or another; a desire to be contrary tells me that I'm not going to let you get away with any of that nonsense, mate; and coincidence tells me that at this particular intersection at this particular moment I can cross the road in X direction without being run over, and that beats standing around waiting for the lights to change, so I'm off... somewhere.

Well...for me, its changed as I got older. in my younger days, it was the desire to be independent, and not to become a carbon copy of my asshole father like he always tried. And then, as I got a bit older, I started figuring, hell, life's short, why not have fun? So I became a hedonist in all but name, but all that ended up doing is getting me hurt, and those around me. After that, I was sort of at a loss for what to do...I didn't want to live only for myself anymore, but I've always hated the idea of altrusim. Maybe I am an asshole after all, but if they aren't close to me, fuck em I don't care. Then, I got married, and started having kids...and so ever since the driving force in my life has been to make sure my family has a good life.

For me, my central guides are empathy and pragmatism. That leads automatically to principles you'll hear from some other sections of the population, like 'do unto others, as you would have them do unto you" or "an it harm none, do as you will".

I don't know anymore, i think i'm just too lazy to actually do anything, and too lazy to off myself.

The truth, it starts with being entirely honest with yourself.

Much harder than you think.

Go through the process.

But I have experienced love before, and I think that everyone should at some point in their lives. The fact that you refuse to entertain the notion is saddening to me. Is it my business to tell you how to live your life? Of course not. However, I can feel sorry for you knowing the rough results of the decisions you make.

But you don't love. Your past matters not because is just that, past. I don't need you to feel sorry for me. I feel sorry for you, you're an incomplete person and will always be. I pity the person that falls for you. She will be so so miserable. Good day.

Minnas, that's getting personal. That's also not the first time I've seen you getting personal. Knock it off.

I was actually pondering that. Truth. It should certainly be the main thing that guides us, truth to us and truth to others. It does makes me wonder why is it so hard to follow it.

I draw guidance from books, thinking about said books, family, friends, myself and NSG, sometimes.

So was I and I know it's English. It seems to me you have never read Shakespeare if you don't know that particular question was asked in old English.
