Does it say something about the culture of American Football, when the Superbowl commercials are as much a draw as the game itself?
Just thinking out loud...
They are only a draw because they are new. And specifically filmed to start airing at the Super Bowl. And specifically filmed for the Super Bowl. That's because so many people watch. They've added some viewers. But the majority of them still watch it for the game itself.
If you consider nearly 4 decades of highly priced advertisements "new."
I'm sorry what? The first Super Bowl wasn't even televised. Most commercials shown during the game make their debut at the Super Bowl.
The first popular Super Bowl advertisement was in 1973. So the commercial aspect behind the advertisements has been in place for nearly 40 years. That's all I'm saying. The highly produced advertisements have been going on for as long as I remember.
Due to the fact that it's the big game. That's what I'm saying. You're downplaying the importance of the NFL Championship.
