This too. In American Football, we have a commercial between damn near every drive up the field.

Does it say something about the culture of American Football, when the Superbowl commercials are as much a draw as the game itself?

Just thinking out loud...

They are only a draw because they are new. And specifically filmed to start airing at the Super Bowl. And specifically filmed for the Super Bowl. That's because so many people watch. They've added some viewers. But the majority of them still watch it for the game itself.

If you consider nearly 4 decades of highly priced advertisements "new."

I'm sorry what? The first Super Bowl wasn't even televised. Most commercials shown during the game make their debut at the Super Bowl.

The first popular Super Bowl advertisement was in 1973. So the commercial aspect behind the advertisements has been in place for nearly 40 years. That's all I'm saying. The highly produced advertisements have been going on for as long as I remember.

Due to the fact that it's the big game. That's what I'm saying. You're downplaying the importance of the NFL Championship.

Not trying to. We're on the same page, and I'm just trying to emphasize that corporate sponsorship (and the opportunity to advertise) and U.S. sports go hand in hand.

Soccer, on the other hand, doesn't allow much opportunity to advertise on the same scale and in the same fashion.

I actually don't mind. After all, that's how the NFL attracts talent. The reason US soccer sucks is because our athletes play other sports in the US. The reason they play the "major" sports is money.

Pretty sad really.

It's one of the things that made actually playing annoying. Too many guys on the team knew "they were gonna go all the way!"

The few folks that played Soccer just seemed to enjoy it. Football was all about scoring chicks and hoping to make big $$$ someday.

Yes.

Unless of course it's not OK for a woman to ask for a female to ask for a female officer to carry out body checks. In which case, the answer would be no.

Yeah, just one that I know of doing well. Give me a bit, and I will try to find his name/stats/bio etc. if you want.

I just remember chilling in the waiting room at the doctors office. Arkansas (I think all states do) has a Magazine showing the high school football up and comers. It was showing that he was one of the best players for his position in the state at the moment. This wasn't too long ago.

I'm not sure what time frame the WBC fits into with other baseball leagues, but it starts right around when most baseball teams have their teams report for spring training. It's hard for a ballplayer to tune up his stuff to high-caliber play after getting winter off.

But, there isn't an importance, except $$$$

You said it yourself, NFL-players play just for the money, and the ads are for the money, and the SB are just to increase sales and revenues.
Moneymoneymoney, that's all you guys/US/NFL cares about. American "Football" isn't a real sport, it's not driven for the love of the game or the passion, it's just about money.

Where as true Football is played for the passion and glory of winning, and love of the game. Playing for your country and stuff like that. Eventhough many go on and sign huge contracts, but that's after years of playing and hard work, not directly after college or something.
