I don't think it's un American. I am an assistant coach for LYS (Lynn Youth Soccer) and all the kids love it and nobody complains about it.

Unitl then Americans wont be interested because they are bad at it and wont put their effort in it to get better.

so what we really need is a plauge to wipe out the other teams or a few own goals each game by Americas opposition. I wont hold my breath (if the opposition tries this America might win also)

They're better than the Brits. Ask Zinedine.

Probably, since 'The Brits' don't have a team. ;)

Edit: Unless you mean the British Virgin Islands? In which case I'm inclined to agree.

This is how. And losing to a team as good as Portugal by 7-0 isn't that shameful. It's not even unprecedented.

Ok. I stated another's opinion, (someone who probably knows a bit more about football than you and I) and provided a source. I happen to agree with him. England, as almost always, is overrated. They won in 1966 (at home). They got 4th in 1990. At the Euro Championships, they haven't done better. Third in 1968 after their WC win. Semis in 1996 (again at home). They don't hold a candle to the real football powerhouses like Brazil, Germany, Italy, Argentina, even the notoriously overrated Spain is better historically. Of course, historically speaking they are better than the US. Right now however, I seriously doubt it. Could they have come back to win or tie against Slovenia after being down 2-0? I doubt it. The individual players are better, but they do not play well together.

Nope. There are four British teams involved in FIFA, and frankly you could have meant any of them.

As to the source, perhaps, perhaps not. The only way to really tell is to get them to play against each other, which happened just recently. As I recall, that game ended in a 1-1 draw. In my opinion, both sides deserved that score- England were marginally better the first half, USA better the second half. England got a decent (but not spectacular) goal, USA got a lucky goal from an error by our keeper (although I believe the way they played through the second half justified that goal anyway).

As always, England came into the cup vastly overrated, mostly by our own supporters-If the players actually played as a team, I fully believe they could beat any team in the world. Unfortunately, they don't play as a team- something that Capello is at least partially to blame for due to the constant selection of an unbalanced side.

Alright so North Korea was Automatically entered for unknown reasons. Appeasing the regime might have been one of them. And since your link could only list three greater losses in world cup history it remains as a complete white wash. They just miss out of the bronze medal for historic wold cup losses.

I doubt the other big losing matches had automatic qualification for the lossing team.
Automatic qualitication should not occur to a team which just recorded the fourth biggest loss in world cup history and has serious governmental issues.

Wait, how the hell did North Korea get automatic qualification?

Out of all the AFC qualifiers, North Korea had to play the most matches to get through. South Korea, Japan and Australia were sent to the third round because they were highly ranked, whilst North Korea had to struggle through the first round.

England is good on paper they have some good players, however, as you say they don't work well as a team and as such suffer because of it. As for Spain they are overrated we will see them drop out because their defence will let them down again.

Like I said earlier, nothing is un-American. We are made up of different cultures. There is no such thing as pure American either, cause like I said, America is like a blend of many cultures. Whoever saying something is un-American is probably joking.

You know, on a moderately different subject, I just had an epiphany. Without jinxing anything beforehand, I noticed that with Germany beating Ghana 1-nil, the United States plays Ghana in the Round of 16. After that, we get the winner of Uruguay vs. South Korea, which (hope I'm not being too boastful here) are two games that should be winnable. If the United States defeats Ghana and the winner of the Uruguay/South Korea match... the United States reaches the Semi-Finals... and the world might EXPLODE on account of people losing their shit over losing to the UNITED STATES.

Granted, if we even make it to the Semi-Finals, we run into the likes of the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, or Brazil, so our chances of actually making it to the Finals is next to nil. Though, if Chile pulls off a major shocker and upsets the apple cart, a Chile/USA Semi-Final would be perversely entertaining, if only to read the world headlines about how the U.S. could potentially reach the Finals.
