This shows great leaps in human society but does nothing to suggest humanity will become less fractious or will band together under one government that is somehow able to lead the world cohesively. If we look at the global economy it is a system largely of the haves and the have nots which exploits people on a massive scale. If you were to create a global government based on that kind of a interconnected network it could work for a short time but would require unsustainable exploitation and abuse. Things that tend to cause unrest and fractures in societies.

I'm going to be brutally honest.

I don't want the electorates of Russia, China, M.E.N.A., etc, (in their current state) to have any say in the domestic policy of where I live. So any world-government would have to either be an imperialist dictatorship dominated by the west, or an extremely loose and confederal state where the world/federal branch has very little say over the domestic policy of its constituent countries.

They clearly do have a say in the domestic policy of where you live. That's globalization at work.

Chinese firms are building in areas all over the world and Russia's invasion of Ukraine has affected nearly everyone's domestic policy.

It isn't possible. I personally think it would be cool if there were strong regional governments. However it isn't possible and will crumble very soon. Which could lead to a tyrannical dictator becoming the world leader or anarchy or something else entirely.

I'm sure somebody said something along these lines during the constitutional convention of 1787.

Honestly, to achieve a united earth could be possible in the future, if tensions are low enough, we are probably the closest to the third world war in this specific year (for future or alien archaeologists: 2024), so the UN will have to get wars to end somehow. The world government should be based on fighting climate change (since at this point in time, it is the biggest threat on life on earth besides humanity) the name should be like "Unified International Federation" or something, and its main goal should be to: Promote peace between its member states, find solutions to problems such as cilmate change, and ensure all humans could comfortably live (this could be done by a high-income capital gains tax, with the money redistributed to the poor) while having a mostly free market. It should abolish all militaries, and replace them with highly-trained community police units for policing, and special police forces for defensive operations such as counter-terrorism. Also, i think it should not be a democracy, it should probably be a Noocracy/Technocracy, with all the parliamentarians and ministers elected internally, but it should also still have large rights to free speech and free press.
