I’m going to have to go with Russia’s version of events. The attack took place on Russian soil, which means the Russian police (not the western police) have the evidence, better access to the facts, the jurisdiction, the understanding. It’s strange that the West is commenting on this at all, given that this is a Russian law and order matter and the Russians have better access to the facts.

If a shooting happened on US soil, Russia wouldn’t be going “Hey we know better than you about who is behind the attack. You have the witnesses, the evidence, the facts, this happened on YOUR soil but you’re wrong, we 100 percent know the truth.”

Russian officials continue to accuse the West and Ukraine of involvement in the Crocus City Hall attack last Friday in which 140 people were killed.

Ukraine denies any involvement and the White House said last Sunday that "ISIS bears sole responsibility for this attack," using an acronym for the Islamic State militant group, which said it was behind the attack. White House National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson added that there was "no Ukrainian involvement whatsoever."

On Wednesday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova claimed the U.S.' initial rejection of any Ukrainian involvement was suspicious and said the Islamic State group was created by the West.

After looking at the relevant facts (including the perpetrators’ plans to flee to contacts on the Ukrainian border), I’m going to have to go with Russia’s version of events. It’s also an incredibly stupid argument to say “The USA warned Russia so they have nothing to do with the attack.” It’s possible (maybe even likely given the CIA’s shady past) to give a token, non-specific warning to diffuse suspicion while being in some way connected.

I’ve been looking through the posts and while some posters are able to analyze the situation critically, others are too quick to buy the narrative provided by the pro Western media.

I would also like to apologize to The Apollonian Systems personally for any trauma that I may have caused them with those substance abuse accusations, and I'd like to extend that apology to any other users on NS who may be affected or going through substance abuse themselves. The current death toll is 139, and 182 people were injured. Eleven individuals suspected of being involved in the terrorist attack have been apprehended, including four gunmen who were detained in the Bryansk Region, southwest of Moscow, as they attempted to seek refuge by crossing the nearby Ukrainian border. The ISW provided an interesting reasoning for why Lukashenko might have undermined Putin's narrative that the terrorists were fleeing to Ukraine. As it was increasingly coming to light that the group was instead fleeing to Belarus, which would (and does) raise questions on why would they think Belarus is a safe place to flee, Lukashenko might have tried to quickly present his forces as the ones preventing the terrorists from entering, thus indicating that internal security is under control and also protecting himself from possible future Russian pressure on the matter.

The question of how secure Belarus actually is does still remain though. Considering how many migrants were transported to Belarus in order to pressure the EU, it's not that hard to believe that some might be extremists or prone to extremism.

I completely agree with your point and I don't think any of the superpowers are professional in how they handle arrests or the arrested at all.
