So how does a person properly raise a child?

First, you bend down. Then you place your hands under the child's arms, holding firmly to their ribcage. Don't squeeze. Then you straighten up. Lift with your legs, not your back. if you've done it right, the chld should now be three to four feet in the air, depending on your height and the height of the child. At this point they become squirmy, so it's best to put them down again.

There are other methods, but raising them by the neck, one arm, or one leg is not recommended.
