I mean, I'm not going to force my morals on anyone else, so I don't see why you should be so bothered. This really does seem like a rather dumb idea on Russia's part.
That's what Russia is doing. Even advocating for rights is going to be banned, and discriminatory legislation has already been enacted.
That's what you expressed support for. Don't pretend you didn't.

I get that. I just expected her not to commend persecution especially after arguably one of the biggest parts of me and hers religious history is religious persecution.

Fascist or not, you have abhorrent positions.
Saying it is the wrong thing to say does not take it back. It is your belief, one you didn't expect to be called out on.

I don't commend persecution, but if it's what makes you feel better then...
It was worded wrong. I wish I hadn't said it. But you can dog on me all you want, if it makes you feel virtuous.
Also, I did expect pushback. You are making assumptions, and incorrect ones at that.

I didn't realise that you "didn't mean it" until after I said that. And the only happening because of this law is persecution so it's an indirect support whether your meant it or not.

I suppose half the problem was that I did not know the full extent of the new Russian law (and still don't). Persecution is horrible - like you said, I would know.

Well, no. The first issue is that it's monstrous, morally.Burnt Calculators wrote:

Ah, I see, so you came into a thread titled "RU Supreme Court declares LGBTQ Activism "Extremist", and you were like "Oh boy I bet they're morally and ethically going after all the gay people in Russia"?
No, seriously, what do you even support about this law?
