There is no realistic chance. Israel will never give up the West Bank settlements, nor the resources they're in control of.

Not without reason, the original UN plan was so lopsidedly in favor of the Israeli's that even several Jewish leaders admitted if they were in the Palestinian's position they also would have started a war.

I have heard of the respective quotes, yes. The thing is, even if this was objectively true (which would have be brought to proof), they had million chances in the meanwhile to make peace, get billions of support from all over the world, and turn their land into a place worth living in. They hadn't done it before, and they could never do it afterwards. It's a pattern in the Arab and Turkic world: miss your chances, fuck everything up by nepotism, corruption, authoritarianism and dumb ideologies, and then blame others for it.

If I was Israeli, I wouldn't either after this history, to be honest. There is a point where it is suicidal to respond to destructive, immoral behaviour with decency and accommodation. We in Europe will also learn this lesson.
