Either YouGov have serious issues with their polling or we're in the midst of a possibly massive, if likely short-lived (one or two elections max) re-alignment of the right wing in this country.

how the fuck is reform leading all men nationally?

It's not - it's leading the Tories amongst all men nationally.

In unrelated news, yes, it is a new Costa policy that all baristas nationwide have to wear a massive dark-red badge prompting customers to ask about allergens in whatever they're ordering and not just a HQ-supported initiative that stemmed from the goodwill of my local store manager's heart.

Paola Marra, beneficiary of assisted dying in Switzerland, now wants it legalised here. Huge development, even though she is arguably the least famous person to have called for this so far?

One criticism of the UK that many people make is that the leadership and media class are very often drawn from the same narrow band of UK (arguably international!) society. As such, to outsiders, their differences seem so inconsequential as to make them virtually identical to each other. Naturally to themselves the differences seem huge and unbridgeable, often leading to acrimonious disputes.

And of course, if you take the position of thinkers like Prof. John Gray, the UK is so dependent on international capital flows for its survival there’s very little room for large policy overhaul in any case. This was sort of demonstrated in the Liz Truss situation.

Rishi Sunak launches their local election campaign with a confidence and enthusiasm reminiscent of Neil Kinnock in 1992.

So the UK is a slave to international capital and finance? What a nightmare, especially considering what few benefits it has brought to Britain aside from a few people in London.

There is nothing wrong with being a Labour leader being a social democrat who supports left-leaning economic and social welfare policies while also being patriotic and supporting traditional British culture and institutions. Especially if that is what the electorate actually wants.
