People could do something more intellectually productive. Chess, is a fine example.

This is basically a personal preference argument between 94% of the US and the rest of the world, much like everything else is.

I prefer American football, but that's because I've grown up in the US (Actually, Nebraska, to be specific. Husker football is life here.)

Please, don't get me wrong, I think exercise and fitness is imperative. However, the people who engross themselves into sports events are pathetic. Spending hundreds of dollars for seats at a game or waste their lives in front of the television watching it is not healthy...

American football is actually a fail game just look at it. Football. You don't even use you foot ever and the ball is not even a ball it looks more like a deformed egg. :p

This post is fail, as you actually are on your feet all the time, and kick quite often, and why would the shape of the ball stop it from being a ball?

Fail, as has already been demonstrated in this thread, the term football predates association football by some time...

Ah, but when I go to sporting events and watch said events, I usually do such with others, which makes my social life better. It's great fun.

Also, it gives me something to hope for. To root for a team, to watch them crawl their way to the top, to achieve greatness, it is a great joy. You would understand if you grew up in Nebraska. Husker football (American football) basically united this state in the 60s. Our love for Husker football is something we all have in common.

Actually, there was an article in my local paper yesterday about local high school rugby leagues on the rise in popularity. It's increasing in popularity, in fact, I think NBC is going to be showing a college rugby championship Saturday afternoon.

IIRC, American Football's based on Rugby, but, don't quote me on that.

Really, I don't think anyone can legitimately say another code is objectively better, it's a subjective statement, and these posts demeaning the others are just fail in that regard.
